I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Sollenberger called the regular meeting of the Fort Collins Housing Authority to order at 7:35
a.m. Tom Honn connected via conference call in order to establish a quorum.
II. CITIZEN INPUT
There was no citizen input.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The board reviewed the minutes of the May 25, 2006 regular meeting. Commissioner Brady made a
motion, seconded by Commissioner Honn to approve the minutes of the May 25, 2006 regular meeting.
This motion was passed unanimously.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
There was no outstanding old business to discuss.
V. NEW BUSINESS
Ms. Brewen and Mr. Martell reviewed the recent Civil Rights Commission decision on a discrimination
claim filed against the Fort Collins Housing Authority in regard to service vs. companion animals and
weight restrictions. A motion was made by Commissioner Brady, seconded by Commissioner Barratt to
revise the service and companion animal polices and related forms to conform with the Civil Rights
Commission's opinion. The motion was unanimously passed.
They then presented an overview of a recent Housing Choice Voucher Program termination in which
Colorado Legal Services attorney David Bye has filed an injunction to prohibit the Authority from
terminating assistance to a participant family based on a criminal conviction and one family being placed
on the sexual offender registry.
VI. LEGISLATIVE ISSUES
No legislative issues were discussed.
VII. MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT
The board reviewed the activity report. Commissioner Sollenberger gave a brief update of the
Development Committee's June meeting. Ms. Brewen gave an update on the requests to continue the First
Step transitional housing assistance program.
V111. NEXT MEETING DATE AND ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Sollenberger adjourned the regular meeting of the Fort Collins Housing Authority Board of
of August 2006.
