James Baird Mr. Ralph Braden Mr. Bill Cartwright Mr. Seymour Graham Mr. Luke Long Dr. Parker Preble Mr. Jerry Templer Mr. Wally Bujack Mrs. Tony Giron Mr. David James A special meeting of the Fort Collins Human Relations Commission was held at the First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 16, 1972. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman James Baird. Chairman Baird advised the members that he met with the CSU Human Relations Commission last week. President Chamberlain is to appoint Parker Preble and Seymour Graham to the CSU Human Relations Commission subject to approval, Also, Wilbur Scarborough is to be appointed to the Fort Collins Human Relations Commission. Dr, Niemann is Chairman of the CSU Human Relations Com- mission and they meet the first and third Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. The following persons were contacted by members of the Commission and agreed to serve as new members if elected: Mr. Louis Brown, Jr. Mrs. David Moore Mr. Ernie Romero Mr. Larry Mendoza Mr. Rudy Vargus Mr. David Osborne Mr. Charles Solano The members of the Commission nominated the following persons to be recommended to the City Council for new members: Mr. Louis Brown, Jr. Mr. David Osborne Mrs. David Moore Mr. Charles Solano The City Council is to appoint three of the above four persons. Chairman Byrd is to write a letter to the Council. Parker Preble reported that Mrs. an active member of the Commission, It was to do so. Tony Giron wants to be retained as the decision of the members present -1- so 4P Seymour Graham suggested that in the future members who have not attended so many meetings (number to be decided upon) be contacted to determine interest and they be dropped from membership if their interest and activity is lacking to make room for others who are. Luke Long is to draw up such a pro- posal and submit it to the Commission at the next meeting. Chairman Baird brought up the question of meeting dates and time. Bill Cartwright made a motion that we meet the first Thursday of each month. Ralph Braden seconded. Motion carried. Chairman has the right to call special meetings in addition. Bill Cartwright suggested the Commission should contact the Public Defender, Mr. Ed Felter and offer our assistance in any way and to keep communi- cation open at all times. No action was taken. Dr. Parker Preble is to contact Mr. Don McMillan of the Coloradoan and furnish him with a story about the Fort Collins Human Relations Commission, its background, objectives, purposes, etc. The Chairman asked for suggestions on a meeting place. Mr. Bill Cartwright suggested the Friendship Room in the basement of City Hall. Bill is to make the arrangements. Each member is to give the Committee his preference at the next meeting. As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be on Thursday, December 14, 1972 at 7:30 p.m. in Mrs. Atherly's home, 826 Juniper Lane.
