A protest from Mr. William J. Miles was read by Dr. Preble regarding alleged discrimination concerning refusal of his employment because he wears a beard. It was pointed out by Mr. Miles that though employees are not permitted beards in the hospital, medical doctors do wear them. The charge is double standard. Following discussion, it was voted to ask the chairman to write Mr. Miles to the effect that while employees of the hospital are under the direction of the hospital, medical doctors are not and appearance codes cannot be enforced for them by the hospital board. The chairman was also asked to bring to the attention of Mr. Miles a similar case involving the wearing of beards in the veterinary school at CSU where professors are permitted to wear them. The case is now before the states Attorney General for study. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM. Respectfully submitted, James William Baird, Chairman
