Minutes were approved as read. STAFF Mike Powers Jaime S. Mares Guests Kelly Ohlson Bruce Glasscock Lt. Bud Reed Ed Gibbs II. An updated mailing list was requested by the HRC members. The list will include the name and address of the newest HRC member. III. Jessie Jackson's apperance was postponed until February 24, but will be held at the same time and place. IV. Womens Task Force > An article was published in the Collegian February 13, on the Womens Task Force, unfortunately it contained several errors. > The activity schedule, flow chart and last month's minutes were distributed to the HRC members. > One task force member resigned and will not be replaced. V. EEO > Sam discussed the EEO statistical sheets, and asked the group to change the date from 1985 to 1984 on one of the sheets. > Sam also pointed out that the category clerical and technical are now one group. Fort Collins, Colorado 80522 . 13031 221-6535 DEVELOPMENT 0 > Statistics show a low number of minorities in high level positions and the EEO committee suggest that more detailed report be established to track minorities presently in the City. > Mike Powers talked about special efforts the City will make to find out where in the hiring process minorities are dropping out. > There was then a discussion on trying to get those individuals who would normally not apply, to apply. VI. HRC AWARD The news media : KCOL, KCSU, TRIANGLE REVIEW, THE COLORADOAN, and The CITY NEWS, were contacted. Selection of the recipiant will be made at the next HRC meeting. VII. POLICE SUB -COMMITTEE > The new police department's complaint procedure was passed out and will discussed at the next HRC meeting. Chief Glasscock commented on the change made in the complaint process. > Randy and Mary spoke with several citizens who asked questions regarding relations involving police and low income citizens. Among those were: * What about treatment of undocumented workers? * Response by the police to calls by hispanic citizens? * Follow-up procedures may be poor when hispanic citizens are involved. * Statistics on arrest rate of hispanic citizens vs. non -hispanic. VIII. ISSUE OF THE MONTH The group discussed Randy's letter to the Mayor involving the policy statement on ethics. Randy was of the opinion that #6 of the statement should be changed and Councilmember Kelly Ohlson said that the council was thinking of changing it. He also mentioned that if a board member did have a conflict of interest that the board was working on, the member should and must be absent when the topic is being discussed and they may not take part in any of the decision. IX. Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 1985, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. the CIC room.
