I. Call Meeting to Order:
Chair Bud Herin called the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m. A quorum was present.
II. Public Participation:
Robert Moore, Executive Editor of the Coloradoan, introduced himself and asked for
discussion on what the Board thought would be good topics for the Coloradoan to carry
and ideas for coverage in May, Older Americans' Month. Some issues suggested were
Affordable Housing, new Medicare issues, parents living with children and the possibility
Marcia Richards reported that a nonprofit apartment building is being
planned for the land near the Fairways subdivision off Harmony Road.
The eligibility for a unit is 1) must have physical disability, including but
not limited to a closed brain injury, hearing or visual impairment and 2)
income that is 50 percent or less of the county's median income.
B. Report on Senior Day at the Capitol - Jim Downey - No report.
C. Speaker in May - Marcia Richards- Marcia has invited City Manager, Darin
Atteberry. Darin asked that we give him some topics about which to speak. The
members suggested affordable housing issues, BOB, transportation, and BFO.
D. The Nominating Committee was appointed by Chair, Bud Herin. The committee met
after the regularly scheduled SAB meeting to propose the slate of officers for 2006-
2007. The committee members are Peggy McGough, Don Wells, Marcia Richards,
and Bud Herin.
E. The educational report prepared by Peggy McGough for the Board will be written and
distributed to the members due to length of today's meeting.
F. Commission on Disability has asked for a representative from the Senior Advisory
Board to assist in planning an Art Show. Don Wells will follow up.
G. After Tax Day Golf Tournament is scheduled to be held in Milliken on May 6. Steve
Budner is in charge.
