Minutes of July 26 were approved as written. II. Cmmmittee Reports: Year End Summaries Staff: Jaime Mares Becky O'Donnell A. Committee of Executive Delegation - Brochure for HRC has been completed and a motion was made and seconded to print brochure for circulation. An educational program provided to HRC members and the public was Mr. Joe Cooper, Training Specialist with Colorado Civil Rights Division who spoke on civil rights law. To address human relations issues within Fort Collins, which has included the sending of letters to businesses owners who may be in violation of Section 13-19 of the Fort Collins City Code. (Note: that New Creations Health Club is still in violation of Section 13-19 B. Equal Exployment Opportunity/Affirmative Action - Jaime Mares advised HRC members of the City's progress at EDO/AA and the need for continued efforts and awareness. Advising the first EEO report was presented in 1988 and will be reported to the HRC semi-annually. C. Police/Grievance Procedure Review - The Police Subcommittee along with City Attorney, Errplcyee Development and Police Department have revised the Police Grievance Procedure for citizen Taints. The subcommittee did conduct a citizen Taint hearing, making recommendations to the City Manager. The subcommittee will again hold a post mortiun with City Attorney and Police Staff when Fred Edmonds returns. This meeting will allow for Fred Edmonds comments as to the procedure and to review latest revisions to Police subcommittee policy. D. Cammuzity Action Board - Mary Daniel and Rosemary Sheridan have volunteered to serve on the CAB. One other member is still needed. E. HRC Award - The HRC Award Breakfast recognized an organization and an individual for their efforts. This year we were co -sponsored by the Larimer County Community Action Board, in a City/County effort at recognizing those outstanding individuals in the Larimer County area. F. HRC/CSW Work Project - No Report. II. Election of new officers Steve Francis - Chair Lucius Drake - Vice Chair Mohan Limayee - Secretary III. Committee Brainstorming Each commission member had an opportunity to voice their ideas as to what they believe the Human Relations Comission is and should aoconplish. The majority of the comments related to educating the community about Human Rights, Hidden Biases/Discrimination, and Where To Go For Help. IV. Committee Assignments A. Committee of Executive Delegation - It was decided this committee need not be a standing committee, and will not be part of agenda. B. Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action - Lucius Drake Mohan Limayee C. Police/Grievance Procedure Review - Fred Edmonds Elaine Boni Rosemary Sheridan D. Community Action Board - Mary Daniel Rosemary Sheridan E. Hunan Relations Commission Award - Lucius Drake Mary Daniel F. Human Relations Commission/commission on the Status of Women - It was decided this committee need not be a standing committee and will not be part of agenda. G. In addition to the original standing committees, other committees were formed for Community Education/Awarness. These committees will search out contact groups in their organizations for publicizing HRC and educating citizens as to the Human Relations Commission and its charge. Next meeting is rescheduled to Thursday, September 14, 1989 at 300 LaPorte Avenue, CIC Roan, City Hall West, 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. VI. HRC Retreat adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
