Edmonds Jaime Mares Mary Daniel Marcella Rose Becky O'Donnell Steve Francis Rosemary Sheridan Karen Hoerlein Mohan Limaye I. The meeting was called to order at 4:35 p.m. II. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as written. III. Committee Reports: A. EEO/AA: No report. B. Police: No report. C. CAB: No report. The first meeting is Thursday, September 21. 1989. IV. Education Targets: Poudre R-1: Steve Francis Essay Contest. Legal: Handicapped: Elaine Boni explored whether disability commission can be involved in the plan approval process (PUD) University: Mary Daniel contracted E1 Centro and Asian Students and discussed possibility of video production. Business: No report. Church: No report. Blacks and Minorities: Lucius Drake reported on the minority caucus activities; black history professorship at CSU (presently none). Seniors: V. Old Business: Until we (the new commission) come up with a new work plan, we will be assumed to be abiding by the 1989 work plan; outlined by Susan Lamb, Chair, HRC, in her letter of January 31, 1989, to the Council. VI. New Business: There was an informal feeling among members that initiatives for action should be put into motions so that everybody will be informed (including City Council) and clear understanding of what's to happen will emerge. Nancy Snow, Hiring Compliance Specialist, Division of Civil Rights, State of Colorado could be invited to talk. Page 2 VII. Motions: 1. Elaine Boni moved as the second rep on CAB. M. Limaye moved and M. Daniel seconded - motion carried. 2. Elaine Boni moved that Karen be asked to invite/arrange Nancy Snow's talk to concerned groups. Motion seconded. The motion was passed. 3. Elaine moved that any action contemplated by an HRC member should be acted on after approval by a simple majority of members. Mary seconded. Motion carried. 4. Elaine moved that motion passed. S. Adjournment at 6:05 p.m. IX. Announcements: Fred Edmonds and Rosemary Sheridan are resigning their positions on the HRC.
