Ann Azari Meeting was called to order by Gary Wells at 5.30pm. Comments were made about the Fourth of July situation in downtown Fort Collins. There were many varied opinions and accusations from both sides, and many citizens called for a review of the situation. Several citizens are calling fora citizen review board to be established as soon as possible. The City Council will discuss the formal review process at their next council meeting or next working lunch. The City Council is seeking input from the HRC and any other interested groups. The City Manager asked the Police Officials to produce a report about how other cities handle their formal review process. The HRC would be very interested reviewing the report that will be presented to the City Manager. The HRC Police Subcommittee has established an excellent relationship with police officials, and they will make a recommendation to the City Manager about the review process. A motion was made by Elaine Boni to have the HRC submit a letter to the City Council about the concern of the Fourth of July incident, and provide input on possible changes to the formal review process. Motion was seconded by Mary Daniel Motion was approved by all members present The HRC would like to thank Ann foryour comments and suggestions about the fourth of July situation. Her time and support are very much appreciated by the HRC. EEO Report The HRC will be given two EEOIAA studies one from Madison Wisconsin and the other from Pasadena California The studies will be discussed at the new HRC meeting. The EEO subcommittee will meet in late July. They will present demographic and labor data for discussion at next months meeting. Committee of Executive Delegation The CED received a letter from Victoria Keller, Director of Community Services ofASCSU. Ms. Keller informed the HRC of the programs offered through the Office of Community Services at Colorado State University and to request information on our group and any volunteer needs that would help us in our efforts. The HRC will review the skillsbank to see if their services could help the HRC. • The CED would like to discuss the offer from the memo (translating documents) that was prepared by Lt. Kelley. The HRC will invite him to a HRC meeting at his earliest convenience. The following proposal to purchase the"Voices" video was submitted by the CED to the HRC: ■ Find the funds if possible, and have HRC purchase the "Voices" video (cost $100.00). ■ Set the plan for training HRC members and local trained volunteerslpresenters to present the video. ■ Offer to present ("Voices") to the city, for use with the city employees who deal with the public, for those who supervise employees, etc.. ■ Publicize and offer the film and trained presenters to the general public in a way that would put HRC into the public eye in positive, proactive way, plus educating groups of people in the process. A motion was made by Elaine Boni to accept the CED proposal, and have the CED bring forward a plan to starting training members and volunteers. Motion was seconded by Rickie Calkins, and the motion was passed by all members present Police Report The police subcommittee meeting was concealed this month due to scheduling conflicts. Harold was very concerned about the citizen that was beaten at a local tavern. Police officers, Kelley and ODeI4 were supportive and sincere about answering questions about the attack The subcommittee will keep the HRC informed about any steps that can be taken to help the situation. Human Relations Award No report at this time. Community Action Board The CAB did not have any new items to report to the HRC, New Business PLEASE NOTE TO BRING YOUR CALENDARS TO THE NEXT HRC MEETING. WE NEED TO SCHEDULE THE 1991 RETREAT. Meeting is adjourned at 7.•30 pm. Next meeting will be August 8th, 5.00 - 7.00 pm., Council Information Center, 300 Laporte Avenue.
