HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks And Recreation Board - Minutes - 01/16/1968-X .7 FORT COLLINS PARKS AND HECRUTION ADVISORY BOARD Minutes of Meeting January lb, 1968 The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, January 16, 1968, was opened at 7:00 p.m. by the chairman, Mr. C. W. Peterson. The minutes of the November meeting were approved. I-ir. H. R. Phillips reported that the remodeling project for Club'Tico'is under vray. Students are doing the painting under the supervision of Air. kbsley [dent. Donations of paint and lumber have been made by the Everitt Lumber Company and the Trostel Lumber Company. The Poudre Valle,* National Bank his donated 850 to each of the Key Clubs (FCHS and Poudre HS) with the provision that each club earn 0250. The Poudre Key Club has already raised ,?50. The Contractors' Association is contributing labor. Financial'reports will be presented at a later meeting. There has been no farther report from Dr. fimne Loets on junior high school clubs. There are now 122 basketball teams, 60 being JAA teams. volloy ball, couples' recreation, and the Saturday afternoon gym programs are in progress. Girls' fifth and sixth grade programs are being held in elemen- tary gyms from 3.15 to WO on weekdays under the supervision of CSU students. The archery program has been postponed until satisfactory arrangements for its conduct can be made. In the ski program, six buses are operating each week with 210 partici- pants. An additional 100 participants are driving. Plans vrere ahovra to the Board for F.dora Park. Board members were asked to think about plans for a recommended design to be presented to tho City Council.. There is a possibility of a park in South meadowlark Heights. The city is trying to negotiate with the Great Western Sugar Company for land for Buckingham Park which is currently being leased for $1.00 a"year. Mr. Phillips reported that the Bay Scouts hEve asked for suggestions for a project they can complete during the Boy Scout Jamboree to be held in Fort Collins this summer. Parking lots are being developed in Spring Creek.Park, and a sprinkling system is to be installed in City Park. The meeting was adjourned. Present: C. W.
