October 21, 1969 The regular monthly meeting of the Parks `and Recreation Advisory Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the chairman, Mr. C. W. Peterson. The minutes of the September meeting were approved. The yearly financial and attendance report for Club Tico was presented and was accepted upon a motion by Mr. Ray French, seconded by Mr. Jerry Kissock and passed. Mr. Peterson appointed Dr. Al Pettine chairman of a committee to select. candi- dates for the position of manager of Club Tico. Other committee members will be Mr. Don Southwick representing Poudre High School and a representative from Fort Collins High School to be named later. Mr. Jerry Kissock reported that tennis courts cannot be built until next year. Mr. 1I. R. Phillips recommended that utilities for Club Tico be included in the Parses and Recreation budget in 1971 rather than being paid for by Club Tico. The Board agreed this should be done. Mr. Phillips reported on two new programs; gymnastics which will be offered two nights a week for 12 weeks for 60 boys.and girls in grades 1 through 6 at a fee of $3 per participant at a site to be determined; judo which was Qdiscussed at the Bray :testing of the Word. Since this activity wes not included in the proposed 1970 budget, a motion by Mrsi Eddy, seconded by Mr. Kis:rock, and carried gave approval of the board to offer the program if it appeared to be feasible. Mr. Phillips reported ow:the 1970 budget. $500O was allocated for playground equir ment in City Psrt; a new recreation man will be hired; a pool and boat maintenance man will be hired for three months, as will a City Park .policeman and a man for maintenance at Wore Park. Money was also made available for the control of Dutch elm disease. A rc:placenent area for Buckingham Park was discussed. Mr. Phillips reported that a new master plan for parks to to be made, ,and areas for other future ;parka are being investigated.
