PARRS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES OF MEETING
Octobor 16,'1973_
The regular meeting of the Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Depart -
went Advisory Board was called to order by president Mrs. Gladys
Eddy at 7:00 P.M., October 16, 1973, in the Parks and Recreation
office.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
Discussion of a possible park at Brown Farm followed. No recommen-
dation was made by the Parks and Recreation Board.
Mr. Tom Frazier gave a report on the new indoor swimming pool. It
is estimated that a six lane pool will cost approximately 0 30,000.
If the bids received are lower, the committee hopes to be able to
purchase an eight lane pool. January 1 is projected as the date
construction will start. The pool is expected to be completed in
eight months. Discussion on whether to have coin lockers or not
followed. The board voted to recommend that there be no extra fee
for lockers. Board members were asked to bring ideas and recommen-
dations concerning a future outdoor pool to the next meeting.
Tom Frazier reported on the Senior Citizens programs offered by Parks
and Recreation. Ray French moved that the board recommend cutting
fees 50% for anyone 50 years and older. Dwaine Miller seconded the
motion and it was passed.
Mrs. Gladys Eddy announced that past president Chuck Peterson will
receive an award for the outstanding lay person in Parks and Recre-
ation work at the Colorado Parks and Recreation Society conference
in Denver.
Mr. Bob Hunt asked about plans for the new Laurel School. Discussion
of possible recreation facilities at the school followed.
Mr. H. R. Phillips asked the board, for ideas on naming the new in-
door swimming pool. It was suggested that there be a contest to
name the pool.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
