April e2, 1975 The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was called to irder by the President, Gladys Eddy, at 7:30 P.M. at the Parks Maintenance Bui:4ding. Minutes of the previous re:eting;were approved as preseWsd. Gladys Eddy reported that she had sent a letter to the City Council concerning reca.mmendatious for the usd of the old Coloradoan building. These recommenda- tions were the suggestioa4 and ideas developed by the Board. Tom Frazier reported that the Council had voted to accept the recommendation in general. It was noted that the Fire Station at City Park will be used for Purke and Recreation offices in approximately 18 months. H. R. Phillips reported that the architect will have plans for the old Coloredoan building ready in 30 to 45 days. He noted that all the rooms will not be fin)shed imediately. Judy Carlson is doing a study on fees and policies for the uses of the building. No recommendation is ready at this time and the staff was asked to present a recommendation at the next meeting. The P,;ard .suggested that the following be considered in setting fe,±s and policies: 1. That a higher fee be charged for use of a room for fund-raising. 2. That groups cannot schedule a room too far in advance and that use of the rooms remains flexible. /OVA 3. Tlu t rates are highest the first hour and lower for the following hours. 4. Thr:t a damage deposit :.s required. 5. Thet the costs be thoroughly analyzed. The Board visa asked to be thinking of names for the old Coloradoan building. Clara Donohoe was asked to send a letter to City Council stating that the name of the, Community House in City Park has been changed to the "Pottery Studio". Tom Fzazier gave a report on Cowuulty Education. He said that there is no remodeling of the old Laurel School--jurt renovation is being done.. They hope ro ops:n the building in July. H. R. Phillips reported that work is being done on the outdoor poel.. They are t'Lying to get projects going at the Lee Martinez Park. A discussion was held on thss amount fees should be for private teams who are using the baseball diamonds. Bob Runt moved that the actual cost be calculated and that fees be set accordingly aad that a memo of increase, and the date it, is ei'fective, be sent to Bob Bruntan. Lela Hyder seconded the motion and it was paused. A discussion was held on charging a fee for private groups who are: using the tennis comtts. It was decided that the Board should think ubout this for tournaments and other organized groups and a decision will be made, later. There being no furtAbusiness, the meeting was adjoGed at 9:00 P.M.
