The meeting was called in order to discuss the letter which will be sent to City Council concerning fees charged for recreation programs, use of the sliding scale to determine fees, and general budget matters. The Board reviewed the letter which had been drafted by Gladys Eddy and Clara Donohoe. Abel Amaya noted that the vote was not unanimous on the issue of whether or not to support the use of a sliding scale to determine fees charged. He suggested that the vote which was 6-2 not to support use of a sliding scale should be included in the letter. Gladys Eddy reported that the Board will meet with Bob Brunton and then again with the City Council to discuss general budget questions. Bob Hunt asked whether the community has much input on salaries for city employees. H. R. stated that salaries are determined by management. H. R. Phillips stated that part-time employees have been cut down, all conference money for out-of-state, and many other areas in the budget have been cut. He noted that Tom Frazier will be sent to a school for further training. Dwain Miller expressed concern about H. R. Phillips not attending conferences. He felt that either all city department heads should be allowed to attend conferences or that no department head should be sent to a conference. Other budget matters were discussed. These included the equipment fund, the forestry budget, cemeteries, and the Trooper program. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Clara Donohoe, Secretary Present: Abel Amaya Bob Hunt H. R. Phillips Tom Frazier Lela Hyder Donna Beard Clara Donohoe Don Peters Dwain Miller
