HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks And Recreation Board - Minutes - 10/29/1975FORT COLLINS PARKS AND RECREX"IYON DEPARTMENT Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting October 29, 1975 The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation. Advisory Board was called to order by the President, Gladys Eddy, at 7:30 p.m, in the Fort Collins Community Center. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented. H. R. Phillips reported that the fee schedule for the recreation programs will be voted on by the City Council on Noveneber /nth. The rest of the Parks and Recreation budget has been approved by the Council. Gladys Eddy reported that the Advisory Board had met with Council members to discuss recreation fees, the sliding scale, and general information. She announced that the Board will meet with Council again in March after a careful study has been done concerning the fees of the recreation programs and the possibility of using the sliding scale to determine fees. Board members expressed concern that the sliding scale might not generate as much income as it would cause paperwork and administrative time. The Board asked that the staff find out if other areas of the state are using a sliding scale. Bob Hunt said that the Board has not defined what income group we are trying to help. The Board felt that the staff should evaluate administrative costs of recreation programs along with the other costs and to bring the study back to the Board at a later date. Don Peters suggested the possibility of using the number of participants to help determine adeluistrative costs. Election of officers followed. Gladys Eddy said that she would not be a candidate this year, but that she had enjoyed serving as President of the Board in the past. Clara Donohoe nominated Bob Iffent for president. Lela Ryder seconded the motion. Clara then moved that Bob be unanimously elected and DetrS secomied the motion. The motion carried. Dave Phillips nominated Clara Donohoe for dice President. Don Peters seconded the motion. Dave moved that Clara be unanimoualy elected and Lela Ryder seconded the motion. The notion carried. Lela Ryder nominated Donna Beard for secretary and Bob Hunt seconded the motion. Don Peters moved that Donna be elected unanimously and Lela Ryder seconded the motion. The motion was passed. Clara Donohoe expressed the Board members thanks for the fine job Gladys Eddy has done as President of the Board In the past. H. R. Phillips reported that Council approved funds to put an elevator in the old Coloradoan building. He reported that a building policy will be brought to the Board in the near future. Parka and Recreation will have mail -in registrations for all programs, It a-ll.nake =or better recorc keeping and do away with long lines of people v3l-- ing to register. Gladys Eddy asked that past Board members from 1974 be invited to the next meeting so that the Board can present certificates to them. Members of a C.S.U. class in journalism were present to observe the meeting. Gladys Eddy asked if they had any questionso and the students said that they were attending meetings of Boards throughout the city. General discussion followed.
