HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks And Recreation Board - Minutes - 10/25/1977• PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD 0 MINUTES Meeting - October 25, 1977 Meeting was called to order by President Bob Crockett at 7:05 P.M. Minutes of previous month's meeting were read and approved. OLD BUSINESS• 1. Ken Nelson will call Clara Donohoe for next meeting. 2. Budget hearing approval results A. The highest level was endorsed of 3 areas we studied. B. Budget went in balanced and thought it was a good way to present it. C. Overall feeling of Board was to become involved in pre -budget area earlier, but avoid getting involved in financial details. The Board should react to assumptions before budget is put together. 3. Donna gave report on recreation programs A. On report sheet B. Chuck Mayhugh reported on progress being done on the property at Cunningham Corner. There is possibility of ice rink, pool or tennis courts; plus bowling alley, depending on zoning of the property. C. Possibility the Board could get involved in 60 days. 4. Public Relations Commission has a special event called "Parade of Parks" in the Spring to acquaint citizens of what is available. 5. Bob will call Dick Manges to check or invite the PRI representative to Board meeting. STAFF REPORT 1. Tom reported the gym at the new school cost too much so was eliminated because of cost. 2. The Northside project is progressing. An evaluation contract will be made November loth and work on site will begin by December 26th. There is a problem as 10% minority contractors will have to be hired. 3. The tennis club offered to help financially in some way so Irene was to call Jake Jacobs and have him get in touch with Tom.
