Chuck introduced new Board members - Ann Schroeder (term expires July 1, 1981) and Robert Aukerman (term expires July 1, 1982), and welcomed them both to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Staff and other Board members in- troduced themselves to Ann and Bob. The minutes of the regular meeting of February 24, 1981,.were approved unanimously on a motion by Mike ImMasche, seconded by Chuck Solano. The Board decided not to elect a new Vice -Chairman at this time (replacing Chuck Basham), but rather wait until new Board members are appointed in June. Status of Community Parks Bond Issue Chairman Mayhugh explained what we had done so far, and what our limitations are in support of the Bond Issue in light of the advice received from the City Attorney. This information was especially helpful to the two new Board members. Then, Assistant to the Director, Jerry P. Brown, told the Board of a memo to the City Manager keeping him aware of our involvement, and he also told the Board about an upcoming series of stories to appear in the Coloradoan beginning next week regarding Parks and Recreation in Fort Collins. These stories should, hopefully, keep the public aware of our services and needs, and may prove beneficial to the Bond Issue. Other Business - Director H. R. Phillips told the Board of the Award to our Department, and to Suzy Danford, for our involvement and participation with the handicapped. - H.R. explained the status of the boxing situation with the split of the two groups and how we are handling it. Chuck Solano asked a few questions as to the disposition of some boxing equipment. - H.R. said bids are out for $36,000 worth of contract landscape maintenance to several specialized areas. We will be comparing contractual vs. city work force performance. - H.R. stated that Community Development Block Grant money for the Buckingham greenbelt may not be available because a private person has submitted a bid to the owner for more money; but we will still probably be able to get a strip of land that we could use. - A potential ice rink developer met with H.R. about a site near Linden Tech Center. We are requesting further information from him. - The "Art -in -the -Park" program is still progressing. - Jerry distributed a packet of information from Softball For All, Inc., that was passed out by them at our softball meeting several weeks ago. The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 P.M.
