HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks And Recreation Board - Minutes - 04/28/1981FOR'ITCOLLINS PARKS AND RECREATION DORTMENT PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES: Regular Meeting: April 28, 1981 The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Chairman Chuck Mayhugh. Ann Schroeder called Chuck to tell him she would be out of town tonight. The minutes of the regular meeting of March 24, 1981, were unanimously approved. Staff presented a plant to Chuck Mayhugh, as a living memorial for all the hard work he did for the Park Bond issue. Chuck received a well -deserved ovation from all present. COMMUNITY PARKS H.R. presented an update on status of Parks construction. Staff is moving fast on completing design work. Other approved projects at existing parks will proceed as soon as possible. $3 million in bonds is to be approved on May 19th. A con- siderable amount of work should be done in 1982. Hopefully, ballfields at Rolland Moore Park will be ready for use in 1983. It was suggested that at the May 12th meeting with Council that the Advisory Board recommends the Board have approval authority for all parks' Master Plans. Bob Aukerman moved, Ken Nelson seconded - passed unanimously. OTHER BUSINESS - H.R. reported on a proposal from a private party regarding building an ice rink complex. Awaiting word from City Manager on whether to proceed. - H.R. reported on approval of certain contracts for maintenance of certain areas previously handled by staff. - Jerry discussed briefly budget proposals for 1982. It appears that a 9% increase will be in order over 1981 total budget figures. Supplemental requests will again be honored. - Randy updated Board on Trails Program. Shields to College should be paved in 1 to 2 weeks. Progress on horse trail has been slow due to other priorities. - Chuck Mayhugh mentioned that he felt that the new Council will be very sympathetic to our Board's recommendations and we should take advantage of that to get needed assistance. - H.R. briefly reported on preliminary analysis of Citizen Survey, showing Parks and Recreation still well received in Fort Collins.
