HRC Members present: Carl Cooper, Leslie Frantz, Bob Lank, Man Oberoi, Shari Olson, Ramona Robertson and April Troy. HRC Members absent: Daniel Cordova and Betty Sutton. Guests present: none. Staff Members present: DeEtta Jones, incoming Human Rights Officer Gabe Serenyi, Human Resources Department Alma Vigo -Morales, outgoing Human Rights Officer 1. Meeting was called to order by Shari Olson, Chair at 5:35 P.M. Chair Olson asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the June 13, 1996 meeting. Man Oberoi made the motion to approve, and was seconded by Leslie Frantz. The HRC approved the minutes with no changes. 11. Subcommittee Reports Human Resource Grants Committee. Shari Olson reported that Sam Szymanski, Human Resource Grants Manager, had contacted her because of an urgent need to have additional members from the HRC fill existing vacancies. Both Carl Cooper and Leslie Frantz had volunteered to fill the vacancies. Committee on Executive Deleaation. Gabe Serenyi reported that he, Jaime Mares and Bob Lank had worked together to develop the slide presentation about the proposed Human Rights ordinance to be made by Bob to the Council Health and Safety Committee on July 18th. He felt the presentation would effectively highlight the changes recommended by the HRC. At this point a lengthy discussion took place about the presentation of the proposed changes to the Human Rights ordinance to the Health and Safety committee, what issues to highlight, etc. Human Relations Commission July 11, 1996 Page 2 CAB - Man Oberoi reported that the CAB had not yet completed the reorganization plan it was working on, so he did not have any new information to report. Library Diversity Grant - Ramona Robertson reported that no new significant activities have taken place. III. New Business Alma -Vigo Morales facilitated a special training session dealing with various diversity issues. Following Alma's presentation, HRC members enjoyed a pot -luck dinner. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
