ORGANIZATIONAL An organizational meeting of the Fort
MEETING Collins Commission On Human Relations was held at
the City Council Chamber, 300 LaPorte Avenue, Fort
JANUARY 22, Collins, Colorado, on Monday, January 22nd, at seven
1968 thirtyfive o'clock in the evening.
PRESENT There were present:
Mr. Thomas R. Wilson
Mr. Eugene H. Smith
Mrs. David Landers
Mr. Ralph M. Smith
Mr. Ralph Braden
Dr. S. R. Schneider
Mrs. Walter Atherly
Dr. Parker Preble
Dr. Albert Nelson
Mrs. Jessie Godinez
Rev. Ed Ostertag
Mr. Henry Chavez
Dr. Karl Carson
comprising a quorum of the board; also
John David Sullivan ...Legal Advisor

ELECTION The following officers were elected:

REPORT Dr. Karl Carson introduced each member
of the Commission and then reviewed its aims and
objectives.
Attorney Sullivan read the ordinance cre-
ating the Commission.
A general discussion followed on budget,

REPORT (Cont.) local authority, civil rights laws, the previous
commission and reasons for forming another commis-
sion, and the nature of the previous greivance in-
vestigations.
The following suggestions were made for
consideration by the commission:
1. To acquaint newcomers with our civil
rights laws.
2. To publicize thru Poudre R-1 Schools
and CSU, to the new faculty members,
that a Human Relations Commission
exists.
3. To get a telephone for the commission.
4. To get letters out to the various city
organizations and service clubs in-
forming them of the Commission's exis-
tence and the availability of its ser-
vices.
5. Publicize the Commission in the bro-
chure of the Fort Collins Chamber of
Commerce.
6. To invite members of the State Human
Relations Commission to meet with the
Commission for educational purposes.
The next meeting will be announced by
the executive committee.
Meeting adjourned.
