I. Minutes were approved as read
II. Lt. Bud Reed introduced Lt. Brad Hurst who talked about the way in which
juveniles are treated by the Police Department when they are detained.
The Police Department has set up a system where atwo officer team, overlooked
by a supervisor, takes charge of each juvenile case. Lt. Hurst's report was
instructive to all who attended.
III. The HRC members discussed a letter from the Colorado Civil Rights Commission
announcing a meeting on May 21, open to the public in order to inform
citizens of what they do. The commission discussed means to publicize this
meeting in order to assure a strong attendance.
IV. Brief and prefunctory committee reports were given.
V. The resolution by the City Council, condemning the South African system of
apatheid was circulated among the members. It was unanimously decided that
this resolution should be publicized by sending a letter to appropriate
parties on behalf of the HRC members.
VI. The next month's meeting is scheduled for June 19, 1985, 4:30 p.m. in the
CIC Room.
