MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
Cultural Resources Board
Wednesday, October 27, 1993

IV. Riverwalk presentation - Bruce Hendee
Bruce Hendee presented a slide show and talk on the
Riverwalk proposal. Following the presentation the
Board asked questions and discussed the proposal.
Kathryn Stubler will be the liaison to the Riverwalk
committee for the Cultural Resources Board.

V. Art In Public Places Guidelines Discussion
The Board worked on the APP guidelines. Staff will
incorporate the changes into the guidelines and send
both the proposed ordinance and the guidelines to
the Board prior to the next scheduled meeting.
VI. Work Plan - 1994
Kathryn Stubler moved acceptance of the Work
Plan with the inclusion of the Mayor's Award as
an additional item.
Karen Warren seconded.
Passed unanimously.
VII. Joint meeting with Lincoln Center Board
The Board agreed to have a joint meeting with the
Lincoln Center Board at a lunch meeting on January
20th.
VIII. Next Meeting Date
The November meeting date was changed to
December 1st due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
There will be no regular meeting the fourth
Wednesday in December. The Board also voted to
change the starting time for all regularly scheduled
meetings from 5:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

Museum Sub -committee - Jennifer Beccard
Jennifer and Joy Poole met at a Breakfast
meeting and discussed various Museum concerns,
including possible intern programs with CSU,
museum storage, etc.
LC/CSU Facilities Committee - Karen Warren
The draft proposal is currently being discussed
by CSU staff. When their input has been
solicited the Facilities Committee will convene
to discuss the next steps.
Arts Group - Bill Cordiner
The group is still tentative on the need for an
arts council. They will meet again in
November.
Riverwalk Task Force - Kathryn Stubler
XI. Other Business
The Fort Fund Logo was approved by the Board.
The Fort Fund information meeting for groups
interested in applying for money from Fort Fund will
be December 13th at 5:30 PM. Letters have been sent
to past recipients notifying them of the change in
guidelines approved by Council at the October
Council meeting.
The Board would like to discuss attendance of Board
members as an agenda item at the next meeting.

New carpeting has been installed in the Canyon West Room.
Two new handicap stalls were created on Magnolia Street.

GREAT CHRISTMAS HALL
The Support League's Great Christmas Hall will be November 12
- 14. The Hall will be open Friday, noon - 8:00 pm with
purchase of a special ticket. Hall of Trees (free to the
public) will be November 12 - 17.
LIQUOR CONCESSION
High Spirits has decided to not renew their contract for next
year. Bids for new contracts will be solicited by the
Purchasing Department.
WILL SCHWARTZ PRESENTATION
Will Schwartz was honored for his contribution to the cultural
community. His picture is permanently installed in the
Lincoln Center Hall of Recognition.
1994 - 1995 SEASON
We are working with the various committees on choosing shows
for next season.

VISUAL ARTS HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE
"Great Glorious Gifts" opens November 27 and runs through
December 30. This exhibit features hand-crafted items:
ceramics, glass clocks & jewelry, mixed -media paintings,
wooden story puzzles, etc. The Lobby Gallery highlights the
paintings and sculptures of two local artists; Jim Lynxwiler
and Ania Gola-Kumor. The Walkway Gallery features the quilts
of Denver artist Glenne Stoll.

STAFF
Karin Eberhart and Agnes Dix attended the Mountain Plains Museum Association annual
meeting in Colorado Springs. Alison White arranged for the Museum to host the Fort
Collins Leadership Class on Arts and Culture. (As a part time employee Alison
participated in this event on her own time) The museum volunteers and two staff
memt,ers went on their field trip to Centennial Village and Monfort Feed Lots in Greeley
on O :t. 4th. (The annual volunteer appreciation breakfast is scheduled for Nov. 15th
at the Marriott, 8:30 to 10:00)
PHY131CAL FACILITY
In a 4-3 vote, the city council appropriated $50,000 for the remodeling of the eastern
portion of the trolley car barn. This appropriation affords the museum the opportunity to
leverae additional federal funds, up to $25,000, for shelving and metal storage units.
The ability of the museum to actively collect rather than passively await the arrival of
artifacts is timely. The museum is deeply grateful to the CRB Museum subcommittee,
Dave Siever, and Wendy Irving -Mills for their assistance.
PROGRAMS
Five personalities will tell Scary Stories and Tall Tales at the museum on October 30 in
the afternoon. 15 people toured the CSU Seed Lab in conjunction with the SEEDS OF
CHANGE exhibit.
SHC:'
The Museum Shop will be packaging gift baskets for boys and girls, mom and dad for
the ! oliday season. In addition, the museum is working with Downtown Business
Association to co -advertise the museum shop during the holidays.
