At this point Hank Hoesli wished to recognize the Fort Collins High School golf team, and congratulate them on their accomplishment in winning the state championship. Citizen Participation: Al Bednarz requested a show of hands from the citizens in attendance at tonight's meeting to indicate their wish to speak to the Golf Board. Nine citizens indicated they would like to make presentations to the Board. Jerry P. Brown added that two citizens had phoned him and requested their comments be relayed to the Board as they would be unable to attend tonight's meeting. Jennifer Fontaine expressed her complete and full support for the Albright's. Anita Jacobs felt it is time Fort Collins hire a female golf pro. Kent Heusinkveld spoke on behalf of Derek Cordova. During this transition period where Kent has been spending quite a bit of time at Marianne Buttes, Derek has been left in full charge of the shop at SouthRidge and has run things extremely well. Cardell Webster, 23 year resident of Fort Collins, feels to get the best local candidate the Board should strongly consider Jim Greer for the position at SouthRidge. Mr. Webster also stated it would be an injustice if Jim Greer did not receive the appointment. Norma Ingraham, President of Women's Golf Association at City Park Nine, spoke on behalf Jim Greer. He is very dedicated to his job, an excellent teacher, and pleasant with everyone whom he comes in contact. Fred Franz, President of SouthRidge Men's Association, spoke in support of Derek Cordova. Mr. Franz took the opportunity to introduce the staff Derek proposes to hire to assist him with operations at SouthRidge Golf Course if he is offered the contract. However, he feels Jim Greer is the best person for the job as he has been an inspiration for young golfers in Fort Collins. Steve Pickett is present this evening to recommend Derek Cordova. All the candidates interviewed are extremely talented and well qualified to be the golf professional at SouthRidge Golf Course. This selection process has been quite extensive and there was lengthy discussioh among those involved. However, there can be only one professional recommended for the position. It was then moved by Roger Sample that the Golf Board recommend that the SouthRidge Golf Professional position be awarded to Mr. Steve Sharp. Second to the motion was made by Hank Hoesli. Golf Board Minutes October 7, 1992 Page 3 Other Business Jerry brought up the fact that at the September 16 meeting of the Golf Board discussion and a vote was taken on the approval of fees and charges for 1993. Mary Hodge took part in the discussion and vote; however, at the time of her appointment to the Board she agreed to not participate when the subject of fees came up as it would constitute a conflict of interest. The recent participation was an inadvertent action, but to make everything official, the Board tonight should take another vote regarding the proposed 1993 Golf Fees and Charges being presented to City Council. It was moved by Jim Doyle and seconded by Tom White that the Golf Board approve the proposed 1993 fees and charges and also recommend approval by City Council of the proposed fees.
