HomeMy WebLinkAboutCultural Resources Board - Minutes - 09/24/1980COLTURAL RESOURCE$ BOARD September 24, 1980 7:30 p.m. Council Information Center I• N mP�l Cultural Resources Board - Barbara Cain, Colleen Cassell, Randy Brillhart, Jim Weitz Absent: Jack Curfman, Pauline Birky-Kreutzer, Michael Griffith Staff: David Siever, Brian Moroney, John Dewhirst, Edwina Echevarria I The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Colleen Cassell. II The minutes of the August 27 meeting were corrected: 1. Page d, IV, paragraph one should read: Colleen Cassell announced the proposed name changes: Lincoln Community Center to Lincoln Center and Lincoln Cammaw uty Center Guild to Lincoln Center League. 2. Randy Brillhart moved, Barbara Cain seconded and the Board voted unanimously that Ellen Thexton's inserted note on page 2 be deleted from the minutes. III Staff Reports A. Lincoln Cam mity Center - David Siever 1. Presented ICC Performance Indicators graph to the Board. 2. Brought up the possibility of increasing revenues by charging users for energy consumption. Discussion followed. 3. Banded out a compiled LCC staff list of completed projects and accomplishments during the past year. 4. Talked about LCC's 2nd anniversary plans, caning up in the middle of October. 5. Discussed with the Board LCC's catering policy and liquor license. B. Museum - Brian Moroney 1. Announced that the roof will be repaired. 2. Announced that the stone animal trough in front of the Museum will be moved to another area on the Museum property. 3. Talked a little about the dedication of the Milkhouse (Sept. 25 at 2 p.m.) and the work done on the exterior and interior. 4. Reported on a meeting with the police department regarding the Museum's security system. 5. Reported on his meeting with the Mayor and Vice -Mayor regarding the Museum and its relationship with the Avery House, the Milkhouse and the Miller Merorial, plus other topics. 6. Reported on the Schoolhouse meeting of September 9, chaired by Pauline Birky-Kreutzer and attended by several representatives of groups interested in the disposition of the schoolhouse. An overall Courtyard plan was emphasized at that meeting plus the general feeling surfaced that the Schoolhouse should be made to be usable. Another Schoolhouse meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7. Reported on the traveling photographic exhibit at the Museum which shows the architectural detail of Old Town. 9. Announced that the Frank Miller exhibit is currently at the Museum. 10. Announced that the policy for de -accessioning items at the Museum that have been registered is now in effect. 11. Announced that the Museum is applying for a $600 grant fran the American Association of Museums for the services of a professional consultant to assess the Museum, with an eye toward eventual accreditation. 12. Reported that the City is still looking into trying to lower the cast of the Miller Memorial reconstruction. IV Old Town Desiqn Review Jim Reidhead, of 235 Linden St., presented to the Board a conceptual and other visual materials concerning his desired remodeling plans for his property. Mr. Reidhead expects to complete his plans within 6 weeks and will then submit then to Building Inspection for a building permit. Building Inspection will then forward the plans on to the CRB, which will then review than and formally report on their appropriateness. V New Board for Landmarks Review There will be a meeting of City Staff on the creation of a new Landmarks Commission on October 9. The composition of the new board, meeting times, and staff liaison were discussed briefly. The Board decided to discuss this item further at next month's board meeting.
