II Additions to agenda: #VI Prospective designation of "Pest" house #IIIa. Staff Reports III Mrs. Cain moved and Ms. Spencer seconded the motion that the minutes of the meeting of January 25, 1984, be approved. Ayes: Unanimous. IIIa. Staff Reports A. Lincoln Center, David Siever reporting 1. Report on ACUCAA convention on New York: The keynote speaker's theme was: "Arts are not a frill". 2. Arts Series printed programs will hereafter include comments on the arts. Included in the Winnipeg Ballet program will be an article on Ralph Smith, the City late Police Chief. The arts in general will be emphasized in the marketing of L. Center. 3. The Sunday, Jan. 29 Kingston Trio program is sold out. LC obtained it for a good contract price ($3,600) and will make a profit on the show. LC will sometimes take advantage of booking, at bargain rates, popular attractions which are not part of the Arts Series. Profits from these programs will go towards underwriting programs that don't make a profit. Perf. & Visual Arts will pay LC the commercial rental rate for this show. 4. The unofficial budget figures for LC for 1983 show the Center close to breaking even. Perf. & Visual Arts section will have to dip into its fund balance for about $3,000. 5. The Canyon West Room project, which will entail extensive remodeling, will be headed up by Karl Carson. The job carries a price tag of about $100,000 and will include soundproofing, modifying the ceiling, closing off the bleachers and will also include remodeling in the Columbine Room. 6. A box office computer machine that will print and eject tickets is needed. 7.. Team building talks among work unit managers at Lincoln Center are going on now. B. Museum, Brian Moroney reporting 1. The person chosen for the Curator of Collections position at the Museum will probably start toward the end of February. OF FORT cot �cvYn- 417 W. The renovation of the kitchen exhibit is almost completed and construc- tion of the Old Fort Case is moving right along. Renovation and new construction of permanent exhibits will be emphasized in 1984.. 3. A $300 grant from the Victorian Questers for the Boxelder Schoolhouse has.been received. $4,400 remains to be raised for the project. 4. The increased involvement by the Poudre Landmarks Foundation in the refurnishing/renovation of Avery House is progressing well. IV Entertainment Tax Proposal - The City's Budget Officer has sent a memo to John Arnold containing several revenue -producing entertainment tax options. One of those options, a 25C tax on all movie theatre tickets, is being recommended by the Budget Office. The Cultural Resources Board will attend a work session with Council in February. Council is looking at possible lst and 2nd readings of a tax ordinance in March, with April 1 implementation. After extensive discussion, the Board decided to have its own work session to prepare for its.work session with Council. V Historic Landmarks A. Proposed Council Work Session on Non-Consentual Designation: Mr. Griffith and Mr. Siever will meet to prepare an introductory letter to Council on this subject. B. Old Laurel Street School Prospective Historic Designation: Mr. Griffith reported that at its January 23, 1984 meeting, the School Board passed, by a 4-3 vote, a consent -to -designate proposal. C. Historic Landmarks Publication: The publication committee feels that 1,000 copies of a handy working -guide publication will be printed initially. VI Prospective Designation of the "Pest" house, 1024 Lemay: Mrs. Milton reported that a group of women had approached her, asking about possible local historic designation for the house, in order to preserve it. Mr. Griffith asked Board members to drive over to the building to get a visual idea of its significance, before the Board's early February work session.
