Fort Collins Museum MINUTES CRB Present: Jack Curfman, Pauline Birky-Kreutzer, Alyce Milton, Michael Griffith, Barbara Cain, Jim Weitz CRB Absent: Rosalyn Spencer Staff Present: David Siever, Mark Breimhorst, Brian Moroney, Edwina Echevarria Guests: Anne Steely, CRB applicant; Sara Briggs, Museum intern I The meeting was called to order by Mr. Griffith. II Changes in tonight's agenda: A. Additions- under V. Historic Landmarks: C. Old Baptist Church D. Pest House Deletion - under V. Historic Landmarks: A. County Landmarks progress III Minutes of April 25,_1984: Mrs. Milton moved and Mrs. Birky-Kreutzer seconded the motion that the minutes of the meeting of April 25, 1984, be approved as written. Ayes: Unanimous. IV Staff Reports A. Mr. Siever reporting 1. Mr. Siever asked Board members if they would like to meet with John Arnold on the entertainment question again, this time in a more informal atmosphere. After discussion, the Board agreed to meet again. Mr. Siever will schedule that meeting. Prior to that meeting, the Board will prepare some specific questions and concerns and present them in written form to Mr. Arnold. 2. Mark Breimhorst reporting: a. Lincoln Center's Showstopper Series 1984-85 season subscription ticket sales are going very well. b. New seats and risers will be installed in the Mini -Theatre, hopefully by fall. 200 seats will be "sold" to patrons @ $99.99 each, in much the same manner that seats in the Performance Hall were "sold" to patrons several years ago. 3. New members of the LC League Board are Ted Davis, Eleanor Gale, and Gary Haxton. 4. The Arts Congress will be held June 8 and 9 at the Arvada Center & will be attended by 4 LC Staff members. 6. There will be a new Sculpture Garden at LC, outside the Ludlow Rooms entrance. Plans are for 2 shows annually, for 3 months at a time. 7. Current Gallery exhibit - Poudre Valley Art League. B. Museum, Brian Moroney reporting: 1. Mr. Moroney introduced Sara Briggs, summer intern at the Museum. 2. Mr. Moroney informed the Board that David Watrous, the Museum's Curator Emeritus and dear friend, had passed away May 18. Mr. Moroney expressed his sadness and that of the Museum staff. 3. Len Epstein, Curator of Education at the Museum, has been elected president of the Fort Collins Historical Society. 4. Mr. Moroney was elected chairman of the Colorado/Wyoming Association of Museums Board. 5. Current Gallery exhibit: "Natural Science Illustrators" 6. The Museum has been very busy this spring with tours for Poudre Rl students. 7. The 1985 Museum and Historic Landmarks budgets were recently submitted to Mr. Siever, who in turn, submitted them, along with Lincoln Center's, to the City Budget Office. IV Update on U er Boxelder Schoolhouse Project - Mr. Moroney: The Museum needs a little less than 4,000 for t e UBESH Project, October, 1884, in order to guarantee 2 grant awards. Bids have been received for re -shingling the gable ends. Also, the estimated cost of re -doing the chimney is between $800-$900. Mr. Moroney distributed a prospectus on the Schoolhouse Project to CRB members, asking them to distribute copies to prospective donors. V Historic Landmarks A. Emma Mallaby Store: Mrs. Milton presented background to the Board on the building and an update of current activity on it. The Board requested that Ms. Echevarria send a letter to Felix Lee of Building Inspection to "red flag" any request for a building permit on.the store. B. Pest House: Mrs. Milton reported that an anonymous doctor in town is interested in rehabilitating the building and making his office out of it. C. Old Baptist Church, Remington and Magnolia: Mrs. Milton and Mrs. Echevarria presented background information on the church and proposed future plans for the building (i.e., a California firm has an option on the building and plans to use the building as a restaurant). Mrs. Echevarria will reserve L'Alouette for a CRB work session on Tues., June 5, 7:30 a.m., so the Board can prepare questions & concerns about entertainment tax for John Arnold.
