Changes to the minutes reflected that all members
were present at the September meeting - with no
absences.

VI. Cultural Policy
Discussion was held regarding the re -write and
changes were made which staff will incorporate into
the policy. Timeline for the policy remains as
follows:
-Policy presented to Landmark Preservation
Board and DDA in December
-Final draft discussed by Board at January
meeting
-Presented to City Council for adoption at
regular meeting on February 16th
VII. Challenge Fort Collins update
The Coloradoan received approximately fifty phone
calls with suggestions to the Committee. At the
next meeting, three minute presentations will be
made from the five key performance areas
highlighting priority interests. Examples of some
of those interests: a community wide computer
information system, keeping Poudre RI facilities
open year round, a branch library, a cultural
riverwalk concept.
VIII. Other Business
Alison White asked for help from staff and the Board
as she is chair for the Arts and Culture portion of
the Leadership Steering Committee for Leadership
Fort Collins. The Arts and Culture portion will be
presented in Spring of 1993.

November 18, 1992
Show Updates:
Chorus Line sold out all three shows.
Manhattan Transfer is also sold out.
Gus Giordanna Jazz Dance sold Q1 1 tickets and 4k dancers attended the workshop
at CSU.
Tommy Dorsey Orchestra sold 420 tickets. It was a nice event for older
demographics, however we lost approximately $3,000.
Series Updates:
Childrens' Series tickets are at an all-time high with 2862 season tickets sold.
Our main advertising promotion begins in early December.
Visual Arts:
Holiday gift "Great Glorious Gifts" exhibit opens November 27th.
Facilities Update:
Monday, November 23rd, City and Poudre R-1 Staff will be meeting with
representatives of art groups to discuss plans for the auditorium at the new Fort Collins
High School. Groups will be presented with details regarding the auditorium and the
possibility of a combined community/school partnership.
The new phone system is in the process of being installed and should be in
operation by the end of the year.
APAP Conference:
Staff will be attending the Association of Performing Arts Presenters in New York
City December 17th through December 21st.
Great Christmas Hall and Hall of Trees:
The Great Christmas Hall and Hall of Trees closed Wednesday, November 18th.
The trees were displayed two extra days this year in response to community requests.
Wednesday, November 18th was the day set aside for tours for the disabled.
New Employees:
Lisa Leeper and Steve Harders have recently joined the staff in the administration
office.

EXHIBITS
To prepare for the remodel scheduled in January, we have converted five exhibit cases
into modular units for design flexibility. Painting the case fronts and adding graphic
illustrations to the front of the cases will brighten up the museum's interior. SEW
BEAUTIFUL is an exhibit of samplers prepared by the Rocky Mountain and State
Centennial Embroidery Guild for the BoxElder School House during the month of Dec.
The Embroidery Guild will also decorate the museum's X-MAS tree this year. Reception
will be held Dec. 10 from 7:00 to 8:30.
STAFF
The staff has been writing an Institute of Museum Service General Operating Support
grant. This federal award is a competitive grant to the top 1/3 museums in the United
States. The 15 page grant addresses audiences, collections management, staff, exhibits,
education programs, fiscal operations, long range plans, physical facility etc. Once
completed the staff should have solid data about the majority of the museum.
PIIYSICAL FACILITY
Allnutt Funeral Service will sponsor a TREE OF REMEMBERANCE. Allnutt will
decorate the blue spruce in front of the facility with 4,000 lights and garlands with
ribbons listing the names of a deceased loved one. This event will occur the night of
Carolfest with the Downtown Business Association, Dec. 10 at 7:30
PROGRAMS
Fifty two people toured the AZTEC exhibit on Nov. 12th. Seventy one girl scouts earned
their badges in two areas Natives of the U.S.A. and Wildlife. The Colorado Urban
Wildlife Exhibit attracted a large number of jr. high & high school students. Teachers
offered their students extra credit for attending our Wednesday Night at the Museum
lecture series based on the Colorado Urban Wildlife exhibit.
Agnes Dix representing the museum and the Colorado Urban Wildlife exhibit were
featured on Channel 9 the week of Nov. 9th.
