Call to order - 4:05 p.m. - Ms. Sternlieb II. Drake Road Pedestrian Bridge Railing Proposal Review The board's recommendation is to schedule a time to evaluate the Selection Criteria Form. Suggestions for discussion include: Artistic excellence of previous work & artistic excellence of proposal might be considered for separate categories. Proposed materials category - Not to use this category if the proposals have been approved by City engineers. Safety & maintenance category - City engineers could grade on a scale (1 to 5). The APP Selection Committee reviewed the competition proposals, reviewing slides of previously completed works, written descriptions and illustrations of their proposed bridge railing designs. The committee voted using the Selection Criteria Form. After the scores were tallied, the Selection Committee discussed each proposal. Proposal #1 received the highest score. The Selection Committee voted on selecting proposal 11 as their first choice. Nine out of ten committee members raised their hands. It was stated in the RFP the Selection Committee could choose from 1 to 3 finalists. The committee voted to select only one finalist, Proposal #1 ("Images of Feet"). Seven out of ten committee members raised their hands. The next step will be to contact the finalist and request: a model/2-D rendering address the concerns of the selection committee make a presentation at the scheduled meeting Some of the committees concerns are: - Safety - how far do the images project from the bridge. - Vandalism - how are the feet images mounted to the top and sides of the railing. - Color - are there multiple colors or one. - Scale - are the images large as they are portrayed in the drawing, are they a mixture of open and closed forms. - What do both sides of the bridge railing look like. Are the images repeated or are both sides of the railing different. - Show an example of powder coating. - Clarify between wrought iron and cast elements. Letters will be sent to all the other artists instructing them that the committee is currently working with a finalist, but will hold their application materials pending contract agreement/final selection.
