HomeMy WebLinkAboutWomens Commission - Minutes - 10/15/1990COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN OCTOBER 15, 1990 PRESENT: Carolyn Duff, Lynne Warner, Duffy Kenning, Doug Gertner, Mary Clark, Kathleen Faller, Dana Hiatt, Browning McGraw, Chris Wood, Mariam Massid-Pharris STAFF: Ann Turnquist GUESTS: Jo Waldo, Kathy Wolfe, (Duffy's colleague)???? ITEM Presentations: Junior League of Fort Collins (JLFC) Senior Center Questions: CONCLUSION/RECOMMENDATION/ACTION Jo Waldo and Kathy Wolfe of the Junior League discussed possible projects for their organization. Mariam discussed an idea for workshops on "the economics of divorce" suggested by the Legal/Economic/Gov't committee. Brownie suggested the JLFC may wish to collaborate on the proposed Youth Commission. Other ideas: Carolyn mentioned a Women's Clinic like the Childrens Clinic. Carolyn discussed the Senior Center and facilitated the questions on the input form Approval of Minutes approved. Minutes FOLLOW-UP Brochure from a similar program was shared. Brownie will share the proposal with Jo & Mary. Responses shall be forwarded to Jean Helburg. Conflict of Duffy gave an update on the City ordinance and Duffy, Interest stated that Gerry Horak suggests documentation Mariam and of it's affects on employees Lynne will investigate further and possibly make a recommenda- tion to Council. Chair Report 1991 Work Plan due in November Recommenda- ions for process will be made. Vacancies Need to fill two vacancies on commission Will check with Gerry Horrak & City Council to see if applications exist. Absences Duffy and Audrey will miss the November meeting Kathleen will chair Radio Time Changing Women show is open if we have ideas Will consider topics and use the program in the spring to publicize Boards & Commissions workshop. Committee Reports Basic Needs spoke at Council meeting re: Youth Will Commission. Funding is at issue. continue to network and seek information Legal/Gov't/Economic met with Linda Hopkins re: Will keep up Employer Awards. Other issues of concern: job the good equity, City EEOC policy, PIC. Chris reported work on her investigation of a public official who may have harassed female employees Outreach is planning to provide continued education and training for the entire commission. Other Ideas & Dreams for commission Duties Carolyn will facilitate November, January & February (tent) Brownie will facilitate March, April & May Womans/Pace Now coordinated by Outreach committee Adjourned 9:08 p.m. adjourned.
