HomeMy WebLinkAboutGolf Board - Minutes - 04/17/1974Oinutes of Golf Board Meeting i April 17, 1974 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by Stewart Case. Ken Fallon, Intern was present at the meeting. A letter vas introduced from the Blue Belt Four requesting the 14th or 21st of July for a tournament at City Park Nine. The 21st is the day preferred for it. Lee Suniga explained that this is not a profit making organization and it is being requested to be held at City Park Nine to help Tom Pack, Pro. All profits are left at the Park. Approved. A letter was introduced from Betty Mooro, President of Women's Golf Assn at City Park Nine requesting carpeting for City Park Club House, and to be put in the budget for next year. It was suggested that H. R. Phillips be reminded to have it put In at a later date for the 1975 budget. It was agreed by the board that they do need carpeting. Another letter written by Betty Moore, President, was read requesting to complete Ladies C1ub.Championship at City Park Nine on August 29th and 30th. Approved. Statement of Revenues and Expenses were discussed. Revenues are looking very good. The play and membe;:ship is holding its own. Membership is a little low, but expected to increase. City Park Nine is improving and very encouraSing. Tom Peck is getting acquainted with people and doing a very fine job. Nail Johnson suggested we start talking about another 18-hole golf course even though it would be.quite some time before it would be possible to get it going. Waiving green fees was requested by Men's Golf Ass'n for Pitching Green Tournament. The Board decided a letter of request to go on record and it will be approved. A letter from The Colorado Golf Assn stating that Collindale is in such good shape they requested the State Match Play Tournament for 1975 be played here. Approved. A letter from Bob Brunton Weis read about a aaggestion from Rtck Pelletier: "Many people at C.S.U. would like to play golf during April and May, leave theareadaring June and July and August, and play again during the later part of September and October. For this group, he believes it Is too expensive." No action felt to be taken. Bill Metier reported on benches. Bench program healthy. Stewart Case.told Board about report from Joyce Phillips on green fees :%for Team Play and also said she had worked out an agreement with Vern Hackbarth ,for serving food for Ladies Golf Assn. He said Joyce is doing a fine job. C' , Neil Johnson said he would appreciate the Board, when talking to other, people, to refer to him as a Golf Course Superintendent instead of Greens Keeper.
