Call to order (5:05 p.m.) - Jane Nevrivy II. Consideration of tonight's Agenda A motion was made by Jane Nevrivy to discuss item VII prior to item IV Second - Jennifer Beccard Passed unanimously II2. Consideration of minutes of February 23, 1994 No changes considered Motion to accept minutes - Jennifer Beccard Second - Bill Cordiner Passed unanimously VII. Discussion of joint City/CSU cultural facility Ron Baker, Director of Facilities for Colorado State University, updated the Board on the University's position surrounding a joint City/CSU cultural facility. Some of the items discussed included similar needs of both organizations, possible sites, needs of the community, and the need to conduct a study to gather public input. 11 11 IV. Consideration of current Fort Fund proposals V. Review of any past Fort Fund events Reports were submitted for Beethoven In Blue Jeans and the Sinfonietta Series by the Fort Collins Symphony; E-Town Radio Show sponsored by Earthrise; and the Asian Fest sponsored by the Asian American Student Association. VI. Art In Public Places schedule October 25, 1994 was chosen as the preferred date to discuss APP with City Council at one of their work sessions. Bill Cordiner moved that the Board should write a letter addressed to the City Council asking that a hold be place on the acceptance or purchasing of art work until an APP policy has been passed. Second - Jane Nevrivy Passed - Unanimously Lincoln Center staff will draft a letter and Bill Cordiner and Jane Nevrivy will review it before it goes to council. VIII. Consideration of Fort Fund Proposals The Board heard presentations from 35 organizations applying for Fort Fund support and then made recommendations for funding. Karen Warren moved that the Board accept the recommendations as made. Second - Jennifer Beccard Passed - Unanimously XII. Adjournment (11:38 p.m.) Moved - Craig Swing Second - Deborah Romero Passed unanimously Respectfully submitted, e% Evan Hyatt i and Recreational Seri Lincoln Center Cultural Resources Board Lincoln Center Report June 22, 1994 FACILITY UPDATE New dimming system - the system has arrived and the staff is installing. jt should be ready by the end of June. The floor in the Main Lobby men's room will be resurfaced during August. r Lincoln Center staff retreat was held June 14-15th. Good team building session and setting of goals for 1995. VOLUNTEER PARTY The Lincoln Center Volunteer Party was a success with over 100 volunteers honored. VISUAL ARTS The American Bus Bench Company is donating benches for the next sculpture show in the Terrace. Various artists will design and paint the benches. The show will open in July. Artwear applications continue to come in. Over 75 have been received. Artwear is scheduled for September 9th. SHOW UPDATES Showstopper Series - The series has been sold out all three nights to season ticket holders. There are only scattered singles available. Lilla B. Morgan, Childrens and Travelogue series tickets are still being processed. Patio Parties - June loth and 17th. COLLINS MUSEUM REPORT CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD MAY 1994 STAFF Karin Eberhart, Alison White and two volunteers were trained on software programs for collections management and donor development. The lack of labels in the museum has been identified as a quality improvement issue which is being facilitated by Agnes Dix and Steve Vandermeer. The staff has been participating in developing a quality improvement problem statement and contributing factors to this problem. CABINS The new roof on the Janis Cabin has been installed and looks terrific! COLLECTIONS The museum has been the recipient of a large donation from Martha Scott Trimble consisting of furniture, decorative arts and framed photographs. Also, another Frank Miller painting has been donated called Old Trails, PROGRAMS The museum provided 61 tours to local school groups during the month of May for 500 students. Rendezvous attracted 913 visitors. WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM Linnaea Dix's lecture on "The United States Capitol from 1793 to 1993." attracted 85 people. EXHIBITS Trails through Time is the featured exhibit in the Overland Trail Room for the summer. It is an attractive panel exhibit compiled by several Humanities Agencies in the Rocky Mountain West addressing everything from animal trails to auto tour routes and the subsequent blending of cultures throughout the ages. LONG RANGE PLANS There have been discussions about capital improvements at the museum and the status of projects. Many of these projects are addressed in the Fort Collins Museum Plan which is readily available to the public. They are addressed in more detail in grant applications for the specific area. These are also public domain materials. Basically - Phase I was the remodel. Phase Il is the off -site storage facility, Phase III is the remodeling of the Overland Trail Room and Phase IV will be the planning and implementation of new permanent exhibits for the entire museum called Fort Collins 2000. 200 Mathews Street • Fort Collins, CO 80524 • (303) 221-6738
