Informal meeting and Potluck
Present: Annmarie Izuel Evans, Lisa Gorham, Bobbie Gonzales, Sara Lamia, and Haemi
Cha.
Everyone brought delicious food.
Short update on activities: Sara provided an update on Women' History month
committee. The letters have gone out to the schools and each member of the committee
has agreed to contact various schools. Members have met with department heads at the
school district and given them flyers in attempt to gain more participation.
Lisa shared that she and Rita met with Joe Frank and Greg Byrne from the City's
Planning Department regarding the day care issues the Commission on the Status of
Women is working on. Gathered that if the day care issue is presented to the Council as a
compelling need the council could become more involved and move it to the top of the
priority list. The meeting was very positive.
Our January meeting will be held on January 10, 2000 from 6:00-8:00 at 405 Canyon
Avenue. We will be inviting Karen Weitkunat to join us and discuss further the child
care issues we are focusing on.
