The following members were present: Corinne Govan, Fran Johnson, Ayleen Burns Joan Day, Jennifer Beccard and Loren Hooper Board Members Absent: Bruce Hendee Staff Members Present: David Siever, Lincoln Center Jill Stilwell, Fort Collins Museum Evan Hyatt, Lincoln Center Guests: None AGENDA I. Call to order - (4:08 p.m.) Corinne Govan II. Consideration of agenda - No changes. III. Dates/Times of Future Board Meetings - The Board discussed possible dates and times of future meetings. It was decided that the Board would have its regular meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. This will be the Board's schedule for regular meetings, with the exception of Fort Fund meetings, unless otherwise noted. The Board's next regular meeting will be Thursday, July 27 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at a site to be determined. V. Fort Fund Presentations - From 4:35 p.m. to 7:20 p.m., the Board heard presentations from organizations applying for support from Fort Fund. VI. Performing Arts Center Update - Staff is continuing to look for a suitable site for the Performing Arts Center. VII. Update on Invitation to City Council Members to Visit the Museum - Jill Stilwell drafted a letter that will be signed by Corinne Govan and sent to members of the City Council inviting them to presentations at the Boxelder School and a tour of the Museum. Once the letter has been mailed to Council members, Board members will call a designated Council member to arrange a date for them to visit the Museum. Board members will make themselves available to help tour Council members through the Museum. Board members will contact Ms. Stilwell with details of when each Council member can attend a tour. VIII. Review of any Past Fort Fund Events - The Board reviewed final reports from organizations/events that were funded by Fort Fund including: CSU/Foreign Language Dept. Fort Collins Symphony Larimer Chorale Dance Express Fort Collins Wind Symphony Foothills Pops Band Rocky Mt. Youth Orchestra Heart of the Rockies Fort Collins Library IX. Committee Reports - LC Board - Did not meet. Fort Collins Museum - The Franz -Smith cabin has been moved to the Museum's courtyard. The annual Skookum Days celebration will be held Saturday, July 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Convenon & Visitors Bureau - Thclureau has moved its offices to the new Welcome Center located near I-25 and Prospect Road. Arts Alive Fort Collins - At their last meeting, the Arts Alive Fort Collins Board of Directors elected Jennifer Beccard as the new President of the Board and filled other officer positions. Art in Public Places - No report. X. Fort Fund Funding Recommendations - Based on the presentations heard earlier in the meeting, the Board made funding recommendations for Tier #2 and #3 applicants to Fort Fund. (see attached funding recommendations) XI. Other Business - None. XII. Adjournment (8:45 p.m.) Respectfully submitted, Evan yatt Public Relations Coordinator City of Fort Collins Cultut+Library and Recreational Servi• Fort Collins Museum FORT COLLINS MUSEUM REPORT CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD July 28, 2000 FRANZ-SMITH CABIN/COURTYARD EXPANSION • The fence around the expanded courtyard was completed. A new split rail fence will be installed around the Franz -Smith cabin in July/August. New Belgium Brewing will be a $2,500 sponsor of the Heart and Sole: A History of the Shoe exhibition, which opens August 10`s. Brown's Shoe Store will be sponsoring the Heart and Sole poster printing with a $1,000 contribution. The Museum was awarded a grant from Hewlett Packard for up to $5,000 in computer equipment. The Museum plans to acquire a laptop for the off -site storage facility and two new printers. PROGRAMS The 21" Annual Skookum Day/Rendezvous was held on July 86. An Estimated 1500 people attended the event. Additions to this year's event included food and beverage vendors and a bluegrass band. The expanded Courtyard improved the flow of the event and enhanced the atmosphere. On July 18, Smithsonian Forensic Anthropologist Dr. David Hunt presented "Dead Men Do Tell Tales". The lecture and slide show highlighted Dr. Hunt's work with the FBI in solving crimes. On July 27, the Museum will premiere the video, "The 1997 Fort Collins Flood". This documentary film was created by Dr. Pete Seel's CSU Freshmen documentary film class with the help of a senior film student to enhance the exhibits at the Fort Collins Museum. The Museum plans to create a permanent space for the video to be viewed in the East Gallery. STAFF John Carr attended an Exhibits Workshop in Washington D.C. from July 6 - 8. CURRENT EXHIBITS Fort Collins: A Millennial Portrait, Biography, opened June 8 - August 19. Unser Leit: Germans from Russia in Northern Colorado open through July 13. Heart and Sole: A History of the Shoe, opens August 10. 200 Mathews Street • Fort Collins, CO 80524 • (970) 221-6738 Cultulo Library and Recreational Servie Lincoln Center City of Fort Collins CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD LINCOLN CENTER REPORT JULY 27, 2000 ADMINISTRATION: The "Anything Goes" series has been finalized and renewal forms will be mailed on July 22". Shows scheduled for the series are: Ladysmith Black Mombaso September 14 Pump Boys and Dinettes October 24 Steven Wright February 3 America (rock group) March 15 Male Intellect an Oxymoron April 4 Season ticket prices for the "Anything Goes" series are $90 for center seating and $80 for side seating. New carpeting is being installed in the dressing room corridor along with painting of the walls. The basement dressing rooms will also get new carpeting and paint along with new counter tops. The project will be completed in time for the Fall season. Art -In -Public- Places: Artist Andy Dufford has completed the landscape sculpture at Miramont Park. VISUAL ARTS: An exhibit featuring the paintings of New York artist Marc Dennis and the sculptures of Colorado artist DeDe LaRue will be on display in the Center's Lobby Gallery August 2 through September 15. "A Glimpse into ArtWear" is an exhibit featuring wearable art garments and accessories.
