COORDINATING COMMISSION FOR SYNIOR CITIZENS
September 14, 1977
The regular meeting of the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens was held
on Wednesday, September 14, 1977 in the City Council Chambers at 2:30 P.M. The
meeting was called to order at 2:40 P.M. by Chairman Ea Chilcott. Since there
was not a quorum this was not an official meeting.

The minutes of the August 10, 1977 meeting were read and corrected as follows:
the fourth paragraph was deleted in its entirety. John McGraw was not at the
meeting to speak and therefore wants the paragraph deleted. On page 2 the
following sentence was added to the first paragraph: The bill raised maximum
taxes on property tax rebate to $410.00.
June Metnik, of Public Service, spoke on: 1) PAR - $ersonal Account Representative -
assistance for those - elderly or not - having a hard time paying gas bills and
2) Information Program - information on how to cut down on gas bills.
Noreen O'Rourke and Patty Hamilton, nurses with the Well Oldster Clinics, explained
the Well Oldster Clinics program. The clinics aim at keeping senior citizens 60
years of age or over healthy. Talks have been given on arthritis, heart problems,
medication problems and something new - mental health.
In regards to the Senior Citizens application for a refund for property tax
enclosure, Ed Chilcott made three recommendations:
1) Limitations to be printed on the form - whether single or married;
2) Notary waivor deleted;
3) Make paper letter size instead of legal size and save the city 50% of the cost.

Ann Azari reportedaon the Larimer-Weld County Nursing Home Project. The
mobilization meeting was organized on September 14, 1977 at the Methodist
Church. Mr. Hess, a speaker from Region 7, relayed the need as seen by the
Federal Government for local residents to become involved in nursing homes.
A need to increase an awareness that people who reside in nursing homes are
still citizens and have rights. Isolation does occur when living in an
isolated situation. Ann will keep us aware of this project.
In reference to the 1977 Senior Citizens Directory, there are several
corrections which need to be made concerning Peg County and her programs.
Ann Azari made the motion that at the time of updating and reprinting our 1977
Senior Citizens Directory we consult with Community Education for accuracy.
This was seconded by Esther Stratton. The motion passed.
The October 12, 1977 meeting of the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens
will be held in the City Council Chambers at 2:30 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 P.M.

SCHEDULE OF WELL OLDSTER CLINICS
larimer County Health Department conducts health screening clinics for
senior citizens who are at least 60 years of age. The Well Oldster Clinics
are held on a regular basis throughout the county. Free services include a
blood sugar test, test for anemia, blood pressure check, and consultation
with a registered nurse. All Larimer County residents who are at least
60 years of age are invited to take advantage of this service. The aim
of the "Well Oldster" Clinics is to keep healthy people healthy. Appointments
are necessary. Call the following nrmibers for information and an appointment:
