HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 10/11/1978MINUTES COMMISSION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS October 11, 1978 The regular meeting of the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens was held on Wednesday, October 11, 1978 in the City Council Chambers at 2:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order at 2:30 P.M. by Chairman Ed Chilcott. Members Present: Ed Chilcott, Chairman Lois Chung, Secretary Esther -Stratton Ann Azari Eleanor Hoag Wilson Wilmarth Chet Hommon Members Absent: Darryl Farrington Louie LaRoche Guests: Mayor Richard Suinn Beth Thomasma, Senior Chuckwagon Office The minutes of the September 13, 1978 meeting were approved as amended. In the fourth paragraph the third sentence should read "S.O.S. - Senior Opportunities and Safety was discussed and found to be the abbreviation of another group." Mayor Richard Suinn was introduced and held a question and answer period. The subject of Transfort was brought up. Transfort serves the elderly and handicapped, and 'needs to get support from City Council. It was also suggested that the Fort Collins Coordinating Commission needs to offer support to Transfort. Wilson Wilmarth reported on the meeting with police at the Senior Center on September 80 with Ruth Edwards. The subject was Aid to Victims of Crime. On October 26 at 10:00 A.M. Don Heisman will present Fire Protection and Senior Citizens. Senior Opportunities and Safety (S.O.S.) suggested by Wilson Wilmarth was adopted as our new name for our association with the police at the Senior Center. The Fort Collins Coordinating Commission has been invited to have an active representativ on the board of directors of the Larimer Council on Aging. Ed Chilcott was elected. The Fort Collins Coordinating Commission has been invited to have an active representativ and an alternate on the newly formed "Community Development Block Grant Program." Ann Azari was elected as a representative and Ed Chilcott was elected as an alternate. New Business: Beth Thomasma of the Senior Chuckwagon Office invited the Commission to attend a lunch at the Senior Center on October 16 at noon. 2 Ann Azari commended Ed Chilcott for getting our Mayor and City Manager to our meetings. This enables us to have a better communication line on the needs and positions of senior citizens. The November 8, 1978 meeting of the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens will be held in the City Council Chambers at 2:30 P.M. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 P.M.
