HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 08/12/1979MINUTES SENIOR CITIZENS COMMISSION September 12, 1979 The regular meeting of the Senior Citizens Commission was held on Wednesday, September 12, 1979 in the Council Information Center at 2:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wilson Wilmarth. Members Presents Wilson Wilmarth, Chairman Ed Chilcott Darryl Farrington Chet Hommon Barbara Kienholz Louie LaRoche Elizabeth Peterson Esther Stratton Robert J. LaRocque, Alternate Members Absent:l Lois Chung Margo Rosenkranz, Alternate Guests: Paul Lanspery John McGraw New Members, Elizabeth Peterson, Barbara Kienholz and Robert J. LaRocque, Alternate, were introduced by Mr. Wilmarth. Motion that alternate member be allowed to vote in case of absence of a regular member was made by Ei Chilcott and seconded by Chet Hommon. Said motion passed. The minutes of August 8, 1979 were amended to read "Council on Aging has put out cards for discount with local merchants". The minutes were then approved. The pros and cons of the proposal to increase the city senior citizens property tax and utility rebate were presented by Paul Lanspery, John McGraw, and Ed Chilcott. Elizabeth Peterson suggested that a date be set for a special meeting to further discuss the topic. Robert J. LaRocque, moves that September 19, 1979, at 3:00 P.M., in the Council Information Center be set for ad hoc meeting. Motion was seconded by Darryl Farrington. Said motion carried. The following were appointed or tasks: a) Secretary - b) Membership Committee to Chair or help with the following programs c) Tax (Assist Seniors with tax problem) d� S.O.S. e Firewood Lois Chung Esther Stratton Wilson Wilmarth All members to assist Louie LaRoche Ed Chilcott Barbara Kienholz Darryl Farrington -2- Minutes continued: f) Block Grants Ed Chilcott Elizabeth Peterson g) Update of Director of Services (Yellow Booklet) Leigh Allen -Crisis Center Barbara Kienholz Esther Stratton h) Membership on Larimer County Council on Aging Wilson Wilmarth Letter of resignation from Eleanor Hoag was read by Wilson Wilmarth,Chairman. A request for a member for her replacement has been made to the City Council by Ed Chilcott. There being no other old business and no new business, motion for adjournment was made by Ed Chilcott and seconded by Esther Stratton. Meeting adjourned at 4:10 P.M.
