HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 11/08/1972• ft COORDINATING COMMISSION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS Monthly Meeting - November 8, 1972 The monthly meeting of the Commission was held in the City Council Chamber at 3:30 p.m. on November 8, 1972. Members present: W. B. Peterson, Chairman Helen Clarke, Vice Chairman Charles N. Shepardson, Secretary Ed Martin Rev. C. H. Hinkhouse Nancy Stegner Members absent: Jim Deitloff F. N. Jordan W. J. Boggs Visitors present: Chet Hommon (NARFE) Bob Wallace (NARFE) Mrs. Keine (Baptist Senior Citizens) Mrs. Sinnard (Baptist Senior Citizens) The minutes from the previous meeting and letter to the City Council regarding the proposed sales tax relief and acquisition of Lincoln Junior High School building for community center were approved as distributed. After a review of the history of Fort Collins Senior Citizens Week by the Chairman, the following suggestions were made for 1973: 1. Date - third week in May. 2. Discontinue the parade. 3. Write AARP Hobby Committee to take over Hobby Show - CSU College Avenue Gymnasium suggested as site for show. 4. Have a convention on senior citizens' problems. S. Write a celebrity entertainer or speaker. 6. The Chairman agreed to develop a questionaire to be delivered to all Senior Citizen groups inquiring as to their interest in Senior Citizen Week. Mrs. Stegner made a progress report on a study of the Food Stamp situation. She will report further at the next meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m. The next meeting will be at the City Council Chamber at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 1972. Charles N. Shepardson, Secretary
