Members present: W. B. Peterson, Chairman Charles N. Shepardson, Secretary Rev. Frances Bigelow W. J. Boggs J. F. Conlon W. R. Deitloff E. R. Martin Members absent: C. E. Hommon Also present: John McGraw The purpose of the meeting was to review the present programs and list existing needs of senior citizens in Fort Collins and to attempt to establish a priority basis for these needs. This was requested by the Larimer County Council on Aging for use in development of a county program which, in turn, is expected to become a part of the Larimer-Weld Area Agency on Aging. After much discussion the following programs and needs were listed on a priority basis. Need for and status of Drograms: I. Improved Information Service A. Existing— 1. Salvation Army Information Center 2. Social Security Information Center 3. Legal Aid Society 4. City Hall Information Desk S. County Home Demonstration Agents Monthly Newsletter 6. A.A.R.P. and R.S.V.P. Income Tax Service B. Possible additions-- 1. More radio information on events and programs of interest to senior citizens 2. Effort to get more of such information in church bulletins and papers II. Transportation A. Existing-- 1. Care -A -Van, a successful but too limited operation B. Urgent needs-- 1. Expansion of Care -A -Van through City support as now planned in next year's budget 2. City-wide bus system, being studied by City and DTT with hope for a city -plan operation sometime next year
