The Chairman had learned from John McGraw that the Parks and Recreation Board had prepared plans for the building to be submitted to the Council on April 1, 1975 without any discussion with this Commission. He called the Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Board and was advised any citizen could attend. Only Martin and Chambers were available. They were handed copies of the proposed plan without explanation of the pro- posed assignment; of space and since it appeared to resemble the plan we had reauested they expressed their concurrent. Since that time the Chairman had obtained copies of the plans which he and the Secretary had reworked for consideration by the Commission and the representatives of the cooperating agencies. After thorough dis- cussion by all present, there was unanimous concurrence in the proposed revision. It was further agreed that the secretary would present this plan to the Council on April 1, 1975 following the Parks and Recreation report and argue the Commissions position. The meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m. The following; is a report of subsequent actions: The secretary , supported by Mr. Hommon, Mr. Chambers, and Mr. Martin, attended the Council meeting and presented their case including the pos- sible availability of Older American Act Title III funds for remodeling and furnishing the space requested if submitted promptly. After ex- terisive discussion, the Council tabled the question and referred it to the City Manager for further information. After conference with Mr. McGraw, the architect and the Directors of the L-W C.O.G. Aging Committee a meeting of Shepardson and McGraw with Brunton and Phillips was arranged for 1:30 p.m, on April 3, 1975. After considerable discussion what is considered to be a workable com- promise was agreed on as a temporary plan for the next 18 months. At which time it is hoped Parks and Recreation can move many of their N a activities to the City Park Fire Station which is to be vacated when the new proposed station is built. This will open up additional space for Com- mission related activities including facilities for Care -A -Van in connection with a City bus station and waiting room for the focal point of the bus system which would be moved from the Old Post Office corner to this corner. It was further agreed that Mr. McGraw would prepare and Mr. Brunton would submit at the COG Agency on Aging Committee meeting on April 10, 1975 a request for remodeling and furnishing funds available under Title III.
