HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 04/06/1976MINUTES COORDINATING COMMISSION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS April 6, 1976 The regular meeting of the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens was held on Wednesday, March 10, 1976 in the City Council Chambers at 2:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order at 2:35 P.M. by Rev. Fran Bigelow, Vice -Chairman. Mr. Hommon, Chairman, was absent due to illness. Members Present: Rev. Fran Bigelow, Vice -Chairman Mrs. Virginia Dunford Ms. Lois Patton Mrs. Daisydeane Lannon Mr. Ed Martin Mr. J. Conlon Members Absent: Mr. C.E. Hommon, Chairman Ms. Ginny Aragon Dr. Hank Gardner Guest: John McGraw The minutes of the February 26, 1976 meeting were approved as read. Rev. Fran Bigelow announced that Boulder County received the grant on Criteria for Selection of First Site Community Care Organization of Colorado. Ginny Dunford presented the Senior Citizen Services, Fort Collins Area pamphlet again for review. The sub -committee, Rev. Fran Bigelow, Mrs. Ginny Dunford, and Ms. Lois Patton are continuing their work on this project. Rev. Fran Bigelow reported on a PACE meeting (People Actively Concerned for the Elderly) on March 9, 1976. They are determined and will continue the drive to obtain funds for Day Care Centers for Senior Citizens. Their projects include: giving talks, distributing brochures, and also licensing homes who would take elderly into their homes. The next PACE meeting will be March 31, a sack lunch from 12:30-1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church. Representation from the City of Fort Collins on the Governor's Connission on Aging was discussed. John McGraw suggested we write to Governor Lamm to obtain information on the Commission, vacancy availability, goals and objectives, and general information. R. � M Page 2 MINUTES (Continued) April 6, 1976 Daisydeane Lannon brought up the use of the Coloradoan Building. A proposal of available games was made: badminton, shuffleboard, pool tables, and ping pong tables. Daisydeane will check on the various games that will be available and report back to the Commission at the next meeting. The Annual Appreciation Dinner for Boards and Commissions of Fort Collins will be March 31 at the Holiday Inn. Much discussion about the Goals and Objectives of the Coordinating Commission for Senior Citizens took place. See attached sheet for more information. It was moved and seconded that John McGraw present the set of specific objectives to the City Council. The meeting was adjourned at 4:05 P.M. Respectfully submitted.
