The meeting was called to order at 2:45 P.M. by Chairman C.E. Hommon. Members Present: Mr. C.E. Hommon, Chairman Mrs. Ginny Dunford Mrs. Daisydeane Lannon Rev. Fran Bigelow, Vice -Chairman Ms. Lois Patton, Secretary Ms. Ginny Aragon Members Absent: Guests: Dr. Hank Gardner Mr. J. Conlon Mr. Ed Martin Mrs. Rosita Bachmann Mr. John McGraw Mr. George Hacker The minutes of the April 14, 1976 meeting were approved as read. Daisydeane Lannon reported on the State Commission on Aging. George Hacker, Director of the new Ombudsman Office, presented the philosophy and goals of the Nursing Home Ombudsman Project. The Ombudsman Project is not intended to provide social services but to help with whatever problems nursing homes have. There were two modes to be dealt with by the Senior Citizens Coordinating Commision: 1) give sanction to the program, 2) designate a Senior Citizen Coordinating Citizen member to be on the advising commission. The big question was: should the Senior Citizen Coordinating Commission establish a need for the Ombudsman? Much discussion followed and it was decided that more information is needed before a commitment from the Senior Citizen Coordinating Commission can be made. Ginny Dunford reported on her findings of a Senior Citizen being appointed to the Board of Community Education. A suggestion was that May be Senior Citizen Month; for example, to visit shut-ins and have block parties. The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 P.M. Respectfully submitted. pC 6 t ¢J U w le<Al
