HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 01/14/1998FORT COLLINS SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES The Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board held a regular meeting on Wednesday, January 14, 1998 at the Senior Center. 1. ATTENDANCE Ed Johnson Esther Springer Marjorie McTaggart Blanche Yakmas Jeannet Whetstone EXCUSED Mae Espeland Erik Margolis CITY COUNCIL LIAISON Ann Azari Jane Goodhart Fran Ward Christina Ulrich Yvonne Myers Jill Taylor STAFF Barbara Schoenberger GUEST Katy Newman, CSU Intern Kay Rios, OOA FCAHB II. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by the chair, Yvonne Myers at 2:09 PM. III. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION: None IV. CORRESPONDENCE: The PVH District Newsletter V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of November 12, 1997 were approved 9-0 with the following change; Senior Attainable Housing Luncheon planned, Tenants Rights workshops planned in the next few months. VI. GUEST SPEAKER: None VII. OLD BUSINESS: A. TRANSPORTATION: Jane reported that the new sliding scale fee structure is not yet being fully utilized by the riders. Personnel at Dial -A -Ride will be asking patrons as they sign up for rides if they require the sliding scale. B. SENIOR HOUSING: Workforce Senior Housing Luncheon is scheduled for February 25, 1998. The city is co -sponsoring, and the public and private sectors will be involved. A panel discussion will include obstacles developers have in providing attainable housing. C. HUMAN RIGHTS ORDINANCE: Discussion is still happening among members, and the community. A special meeting will be held February 4, 1998 for the SAB members to fully discuss this ordinance, and make recommendations to the City Council. D. YOUTH BOARD MEETING PLANS: Discussed scheduling preferences of SAB members. Members discussed agenda topics for the meeting. Youth Board will be contacted to see if a coordinated time can be achieved. E. `97 WORK PLAN REVIEW: Members reviewed, and added event dates as needed. F. `98 WORK PLAN: A committee will also review the liaisons and appoint liaisons to members. G. LIAISONS REPORT: RSVP is celebrating 25 year anniversary in Latimer County. RSVP is also recruiting for intergenerational volunteers. Foster Grandparent program is expanding. TRIAD and SALT is up and running in Ft. Collins. OOA Latimer County Community Service Deputy Director will be Ginny Riley VIII. NEW BUSINESS A. SAGENET - no report B. NEW MEMBER - Christina Ulrich welcomed. She is employed at RSVP as the Volunteer Coordinator. She brings to SAB much experience, talents and energy. C. CITY LINE UPDATE - Marjorie discovered that some of the information in the City Line part of the phone directory is inaccurate and in need of being updated, a letter will be written to the parties involved.
