The minutes from the June meeting were approved.
OLD BUSINESS
Shirley Reichenbach read a memo from the Mayor regarding the
purchasing/leasing of property for the City. It was stated in the
memo that each property and arrangement is unique and the City does
act in the best interest of the City.
Wendy Irving, City of Fort Collins Facilities Office, stated 281
North College was a good example of purchasing a facility and then
remodeling it after the purchase for handicapped accessibility.
Shirley Reichenbach mentioned the Proclamation for the enactment of
the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 will be read at the
Council meeting July 16, 1991.
Shirley Reichenbach called US West regarding advertising for
handicap accessibility to businesses. US West said they would add
this item to the checklist of things to ask when merchants place
ads.
Shirley also passed out a letter she composed to businesses stating
that the Commission on Disability Site Plan Committee has checkg3(
their building/site plans.

Joe Henrickson or Poudre R-1 was contacted by Shirley Reichenbach.
He referred her to George Galida, new construction. He would be
happy to have input from COD on new schools.
Pam from Larimer County Courthouse is tallying handicap placards
for COD.
Jean Hillberg from Parks and Recreation is looking into using
tokens rather than quarters for the hot tub at the old pool.
NEW BUSINESS
Wendy Irving, Shirley Reichenbach and Mike Wilson met at Council
Chambers to look over the facility for accessibility for the
handicapped. Wendy Irving distributed a memo with a list of items
to improve the situation.
• Mike Gebo mentioned to the Board that a workshop is scheduled for
July 25, 1991 in Denver regarding Accessibility Guidelines for HUD
and invited anyone interested in attending.
Roy Beauchamp asked Mike Gebo is check on the parking lot at 106
Bryan to see if the lot meets code guidelines.
Mike Gebo stated he will be speaking at a Facilities Management
Association on the ADA September 11, 1991.

Here is the list of plans the committee recommended changes:
The Square - Change the parking lot, it is out of compliance. Dan
Coldiron, City Zoning, is working on this issue.
Horsetooth/South Shield - addition to apartments - ratio handicap
units. The owners will comply with new ADA guidelines.

OTHER BUSINESS
Shirley mentioned the concrete ballards at North College and Willox
need to be fixed and the time table given the owner is probably
past due.
