HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 09/14/1988SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD MEETING September 14, 1988 The regular meeting of the Senior Advisory Board was held at the Parks Shop at 1:30 PM. Members present were: Joe Campanella, June Bergstrom, Kathleen Jones, Mildred Arnold, Yetta Rollin, Kay Rios, Barb Schoenberger, and Margaret Watts. Yetta mentioned that Sam Rosenthal had recently had emergency gall bladder surgery but was to be released from the hospital soon. Joe brought up the matter of meeting time, and after some discussion, it was agreed to change the time of the meeting to 2:00 PM on the second Tuesday of each month. It was unanimously agreed to send word to Amway representatives that we were not interested in their cause fund project. Joe reported on the Paint-A-Thon project, noting that 20 houses had been painted with thanks from their owners. Under goals and objectives for 1988/89 year, it was agreed to have 3 meetings a year open to the public. The first meeting would be after the first of the year and would focus on supplemental insurance including information from the state insurance office and Medicare. Kay Rios volunteered to write articles letting folks know of the board and its purpose and advertising our public meeting. Joe offered to secure the tape on Dykwald's speech for our next meeting. It was agreed to send out invitations to our meetings to various members of city organizations. In reviewing past achievements by the Board, Joe told us that SAINT, senior tax help, Medicare counseling and the latch -key projects have been some of the projects initiated by this Board. It was unanimously agreed that Joe Campanella would serve as president of this board and Kay Rios would serve as secretary. The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 PM.
