attendance:
Because this was a special meeting designed to elicit senior
response, normal meeting procedure was suspended. Topics
included the following:
A. The plans for the new senior center were discussed and
several ideas provided.
1. parking was a prime concern;
2. large enough rooms to accommodate conference and meeting
situations;
3. nice kitchen and eating area;
4. concern was expressed over mixing age groups in one center.
B. Paint-A-Thon - Margaret, Joe, Pat, and Yetta will sit on the
subcommittee.
C. Barb will set up an orientation meeting for new members.
CONCERN FROM THE FLOOR
A. Walk lights are needed on Stanford so seniors may cross to
the mall. Traffic is projected to increase in this area and
seniors would like to see the walk light considered.
B. Some seniors felt that some existing walk lights are not
timed long enough for them to cross the street safely.
C. Joe will contact Rick Ensdorff and ask that he attend a
future meeting to discuss plans for the area around the shopping
mall where seniors might be affected.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned so that the board members might meet
some of the seniors attending the meeting and hear some of their
concerns.
