Agency Contacts and Networking During the retreat it was established that the COD would make efforts to connect with City departments and outside agencies. In order to make this happen, the members decided to have a COD orientation on the 4th Wednesday of January for departments and outside agencies. Representatives of those groups would be invited to the meeting where the COD video would be shown. These representatives would also have the opportunity to introduce themselves and make brief remarks about their department or agency. The departments and agencies that the COD thought of include: CiY-Departments Dial -A -Ride --John Wright Human Resources --Dana Shea -Reid Engineering --Rusty McDaniel Human Rights Office --Laurie Fonken-Joseph Council Liaison --Mike Byrne Community Agencies MS Society --Sylvia Wyzolowski Foothills Gateway --Tim O'Neill Res. for Disabled Students --Rose Kreston Building and Zoning --Felix Lee Recreational Therapy --Renee Lee Fort Collins Housing Authority Current Planning --Bob Blanchard Ron Phillips --Transportation Acccess by Design --Jean Batchelder Dis. Mayor's Awards Review Members feel that the Mayor's Awards went very well. However, there were also suggestions for next years luncheon. Suggestions include: 1) The subcommittee should make the notes on nominees that will be read at the ceremony. These notes should be completed at the same time the applications are reviewed. 2) For future luncheons try to get the Kids on the Block, some type of eductional puppet show, or a motivational speaker (e.g. Bill Vols, Larimer County Job Counselor). IV. Absences The COD took a secret vote to ask Amy Rosenberg to leave the Commission because of absences. The vote passed by a large majority. UPDATE: Amy resigned effective Nov. 1 in a letter she sent to Don Fish. IV. Next Meeting Identify which COD members will contact which agencies and departments (See II). Identify which COD members will follow which boards (per itemized list that Nancy Baker drafted). Discuss by-laws section on absences. 4. Review workplan.
