COD Informational Meeting The preliminary agenda (as identified at the Dec. 2nd meeting) for the informational meeting to be held on Jan.27th is: 1. Welcome and introduction of Commission members and City department representatives. 2. Introduction to the work/mission of the Commission. 3. Showing of the COD video. 4. Discussing/listing issues of concern to the disabled community as related to specific departments. (Depending on time, this agenda item may be limited to listing those issues only. Departments will be invited back individually to discuss these issues in greater detail.) 5. Ways for the COD to connect with City departments on common issues. Issues that the COD would like to discuss with departments: Building and Zoning • More flexibility. • Early notice of waivers. • Delivery of clear, concise, and cohesive information to the COD. Especially prior to any presentations to be made to the COD. • Greater recognition of all disability issues. Council Liaison Support for COD in other City issues. Improved communications with COD; from COD to Council Liaison, Council Liaison to Council, and Council Liaison to COD. Dial -A -Ride • Concerns from Dial -A -Ride • Training of drivers; sensitivity and on -going Transportation • Evening Transfort and matching DAR hours • Changes affecting disabled • Transit Tax • Audible crosswalk signals Human Resources • Employment of individuals with disabilities • Percent of City employees that have disabilities • Disability awareness training of City employees that hire and supervisor employees and/or that work with the public Engineering • General information on status of ADA compliance in regards to infrastructure; within City organization and community -wide. Recreational Therapy • Expansion of program offerings • What are the current range of programs • Opportunity to work with outside agencies (e.g. Special Olympics) Fort Collins Housing Authority • Availablility of housing • Leveraging of funds Human Rights Office • Sensitivity towards disability issues Current Planning • Recognition of the needs of all disabilities at early stages of development review
