COMMISSION ON DISABILITY
MINUTES
COMMISSION ON DISABILITY
July 13, 1987
The regular meeting of the Commission on Disability was called to order by
Chairperson Marilyn Maxwell at 6:32 p.m., in the CIC Room, City Hall West,
300 LaPorte Avenue.
Members Present: Carol Rice, Sharon Winfield, Charlotte Kanode, Arne
Andersen, Nancy Jackson, Bobbie Guye, Judy
Siefke, Marilyn Maxwell, Diane Radford
Members Absent: Betty Shuey, Steve Kiefer
Staff: Jackie Davis, Carmen Hollowell
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS & SPEAKERS
Diane Radford was introduced as the new Commission on Disability member.
Because she works for the Division of Rehabilitation and daily works with
people with disabilities, she felt it would be interesting to serve on the
Commission.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes from the June 8 meeting were approved as written.
NEW BUSINESS
Election of Officers
Arne Andersen and Judy Siefke were elected Chairperson and Vice -Chairperson.
They will revolve terms, each serving 6 months. Marilyn Maxwell was elected
Member -at -Large.
Miscellaneous
COD members discussed the location of a handicapped accessible ramp to be
installed by the City of Fort Collins. There was concern that it would be
located at the southwest corner of College and Mountain Avenue in close

proximity to a drainage ditch, which could be hazardous during the winter
months. The COD agreed that it would be good to inspect the proposed site
before the work was begun. COD members will meet on Wednesday, July 22, at
4:00 p.m., at the CDBG Office and walk over to the site. Dick Valdez,
Project Manager, and Rita Davis, Parking and Bikeways Manager, will be asked
to attend.
OLD BUSINESS
The COD discussed the Mayor's Awards Breakfast and committees were formed.
(A list of the committees are attached.)
ABRF UPDATE
Jackie reported there were no new applications for the Disabled Equipment
and Architectural Barrier Removal Programs.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
