COMMISSION ON DISABILITY
October 5, 1987
The special meeting of the Commission on Disability was called to
order by Chairperson Arne Andersen at 6:35 p.m., in the Council Office, City
Hall West, 300 LaPorte Avenue.
Members Present: Nancy Jackson, Heather Heafer, Arne Andersen, Marilyn
Maxwell, Judy Siefke, Shirley Reichenbach, Dianne
Radford, Carol Rice, Bobbie Guye
Members Absent: Charlotte Kanode, Helen Barr
Staff: Jackie Davis, Carmen Hollowell
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes from the September 14 meeting were approved with the following
correction: Page 1, Paragraph 1, under Old Business, "Shirley volunteered
to look into getting donated flowers from Long's Drugs and Michael's."
OLD BUSINESS
Committee members reported that everything was ready for the Breakfast and
arrangements were made to pick up the food.
ABRF UPDATE
Jackie reported no new applications had been received under the Disabled
Equipment and Architectural Barrier Removal Programs.
Regarding the request received last month for a portable ramp for a family
hosting a disabled person, Jackie reported she contacted Foothills Gateway
to see if they could build the ramp if the ABR program provided the
materials. She was informed by Foothills Gateway that they would pursue
that possibility in the future. They also informed her that the host
family had already purchased a portable ramp.
