Call Meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Ryan Hennig, chairperson.
Approval of Minutes from November, 2005
On a motion by Kristi Thomas and seconded by Erin Rooney, the minutes of the regular meeting on
November 2, 2005 were approved unanimously.
Agenda Review:
No changes to the printed agenda.
Citizen Participation:
Matt Strauch introduced himself and announced that he will be a member of the Youth Advisory Board
following City Council's appointment later in December. His first meeting will be January 4, 2006.
Agenda:
BATTLE OF THE BANDS UPDATE
Kristie Blackmon distributed flyers she had made requesting bands to apply for Battle of the Bands at
the YAC on January 27, a fund-raiser for the Inspiration Playground. David Saperstone was going to
check on sound equipment and studio time as a prize and report to Kristie Blackmon. The application
deadline is January 13, and Board members will help screen applications and audition tapes to
determine who will perform.
SPEAKERS SERIES
Peggy Bowers has contacted Board liaison Kurt Kastein to determine whether he or Mayor Hutchinson
would like to be part of the "speakers series" that is being scheduled for February, March and April.
Peggy will secure space at the Senior Center for these three meetings. Poudre High School has agreed
to promote the series through their PACE program and other classes. Fort Collins High School has
shown a willingness to help, and Board members who attend Rocky Mountain High School will
approach their Key Club.

YOUTH PROGRAM UPDATE
Kristie Blackmon distributed the December calendar for the Youth Activity Center. Some highlights
include a Rockfest on December 21 with four bands, $3 admission at the door; drop -in basketball
participation has been increasing; ski trips to Winter Park are underway. The Youth Activity Center
opens at noon during winter break when school is not in session.
Club 56 had 239 attendees on December 3 (an all time high), Club 78 is Saturday, December 17 and
volunteers are needed.
Fund-raising opportunities are available at the YAC where the sponsoring group can charge whatever
admission they want with a portion of the proceeds going to the YAC.
Breakfast with Santa was held at The Farm December 1-4.
Wrestling is underway at the Northside Aztlan Community Center; dual meet that started the weekend
of December 3 will conclude on December 10. Kids' Caf6 at the NACC began in early November, and
tutors report an increase in attentiveness as a result of the kids being fed by the Food Bank. "Toys for
Kids" Christmas parties will be held on December 17 at Cinema Savers.
OTHER BUSINESS
Adam Molzer with United Way 211 (First Call) wanted the Board to know about SCIT's plan to
have speakers at Boys and Girls Club on the first Monday of each month from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Board members are encouraged to attend if they wish.
Lee Swanson talked about his family's visit to a state park in Nebraska over Thanksgiving and the
interest in crafts there.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion by Erin Rooney, seconded by Kristi Thomas, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn at
7:45 p.m.
