Support Suprv. — Recreation Division Guest(s) Present: None Call Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by Ryan Hennig, chairperson. Approval of Minutes from October, 2005 On a motion Lee Swanson and second by David Saperstone, the minutes of the regular meeting on October 5, 2005 were approved unanimously. Agenda Review: No changes to the printed agenda. Citizen Participation: No citizen participation. Agenda: VIEW/DISCUSS NACC DESIGN Peggy Bowers shared the architect's rendering of the new Northside Aztlan Community Center. Board members were able to ask questions and visualize the completed project. The new facility is slated to open in the summer of 2007. FINALIZE BOARD WORK PLAN Board members finalized their work plan to include the following: Place notices in the Coloradoan about monthly YAB meetings and guest speakers Arrange to have guest speakers at monthly meetings Plan a "what's happening" exhibit that will become part of YouthFest in May, 2006 Plan and implement a fund-raiser for the Inspiration Playground PLAN BATTLE OF THE BANDS A "battle of the bands" will be held at the Youth Activity Center on Friday, January 27 from 6:00- 11:00 p.m. as a fund-raiser for the Inspiration Playground. Planning assignments were made, and audition tapes will be reviewed at the January meeting. Youth Advisory Board Minutes November 2, 2005 Page 2 PLAN SPEAKERS SERIES Peggy Bowers will work on securing interesting guests to speak at regular Board meetings in February, March and April. A representative from the Larimer County Workforce Center, the Mayor, and Magistrate Mary Jo Berenato are potential guest speakers. YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER UPDATE Kristie Blackmon distributed the November calendar and commented that staff is seeing an increase in gymnasium use. Two nights a week are reserved for flag football and volleyball in the gym. Volunteers are needed for Club 56 and Club 78. NORTHSIDE AZTLAN COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE The wrestling program is underway under the supervision of Frank Martinez. The Food Bank is conducting a program called Kids Cafe where kids who are at Northside around dinnertime are provided a nutritious meal Monday through Friday during the school year. The program will continue during the summer with breakfast and lunch being provided. OTHER BUSINESS None.
